Avalon Hill Tobruk Tank Battles in North Africa 1942 Strategy Board Game, 841

Other Materials,   Box Condition: Good

Classic armor strategy game in excellent condition. You could easily argue that the game was never played. The 3 boards are 'as-new' condition with no wear, the Roster Pad is intact, the German/British Hit Probability Charts and Casualty Table and look factory new. 95% of the pieces are were never punched; a small handful were punched and put back into the holders. Instructions are as new. The original Avalon Hill order form, mailing list and catalog card and even the 'Game/Parts Price List' are present and excellent. I do not see any dice; they may or may not have come with this game.

UPC Covered Wagon - (ex-Miniature Masterpieces / Ex-Revell / ex-UPC), 1/48, 4010-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

From the original 1950s molds. Like all Miniature Masterpieces kits, this one is very finely engraved and molded with excellent detail. In addition to the wagon it includes two ox, one horse, three figures, rifle, barrel, bucket, saw and a display base. Molded in swirl green plastic. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. This kit has a long history! 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lou Glasser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although having the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. However, there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954, making the one-year original issues very rare. After Revell no longer saw these as 'market viable' they molds were sold or leased to UPC. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s. Eventually Life-Like ended up with the molds and reissued them.

Renwal The Visible Airplane Engine WASP 9 Cylinder Radial by Pratt & Whitney, 1/4, 809-1495

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair-

Sold

From the late 1950s. Very large (1/4 scale) and highly detailed kit. By far the finest working visible aircraft engine kit ever made. Comes with electric motor, gear and battery boxes and all hardware. Transparent housings permit viewing the correctly working pistons, valves, rocker arms, connecting rods, cam and gears in action with synchronized firing of the spark plugs using red electric bulbs. Propeller also changes pitch. Kit is molded in clear, red, black, blue metallic and gray plastic. The box is very heavily worn and has a great deal of clear tape on the edges and corners. 4 inches of one short side is missing. It is marginally presentable as shown but not collectible. Inside the box is much better- all cardboard inserts and clear panels are intact as shown and display from 'very good' to 'near mint.' The bottom box (tray) is solid and 'good' with the main flaw being fading to the bottom. NOTE: this kit has minor but very neat assembly. Step one (pistons, wrist pins and crank) has been assembled. Quality of assembly is 'professional' and everything works perfectly. The cylinder head halves are also assembled with 'professional' quality. There is no other assembly. All parts have been carefully inventoried and NOTE that is is missing two parts: (1) of (2) nut retainer (easily made from flat plastic stock) and (1) of (18) pushrods. The pushrod is easily made from metal or plastic cylindrical stock. Otherwise includes all other parts. Only the envelope with the screws and nuts has been opened; all other metal parts and bulbs are still in sealed in the original envelopes. Includes instructions, yellow lubrication warning, small Renwal catalog and special booklet on 'The Aircraft Engine and How It Operates.' All of these are in 'excellent' to 'very good' condition.
