Alliance Henschel Hs-P.75 - (P75 / Hs75), 1/72, 72012

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Sold

Rare and still factory sealed. Beautifully cast in high-definition resin. Features good cockpit, optional position landing gear and more. This 1941 aircraft design was to be a possible successor to the Messerschmidt Bf-110 heavy fighter. Although of a unusual configuration for that time, there were advantages (and disadvantages) to its rear wing/forward canard construction. The Hs P.75 featured a tapered fuselage, with the slightly swept-back wings being mounted mid-fuselage and set back to the rear of the aircraft. The widened fuselage was designed to house the Daimler Benz DB 610 engine, which were two DB 605 engines joined side-by-side, just aft of the cockpit. These were the same engines that the Heinkel He 177 used, and were found to be prone to overheating and catching fire. Due to this development, they were changed in 1942 to the liquid-cooled, 24 cylinder Daimler Benz DB 613 engines (two coupled DB 603s) that produced 3500 horsepower. Both engine configurations were to drive contra-rotating propellers (to offset torque) of a 3.2m (10' 6") diameter via an extension shaft. There were a pair of swept-back canards located on the nose of the aircraft, that were to serve the purpose of elevators. The vertical tail unit was mounted beneath the fuselage, so that it could act as a tail bumper upon takeoff so that the propellers would not strike the ground. Since the propellers were located at the rear in a pusher configuration, a tricycle landing gear arrangement was chosen.

Maircraft Taylorcraft - Solid Wood Model Airplane, 1/48, S-17

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Maircraft was originally founded in the early or mid 1930s by Gordon Christoph and went by the name Aircraft Model Company. The company produced a typical line of solid 'profile cut' kits that required the usual high talent levels for carving and finishing. A former Comet Model Airplane & Supply Co. salesman, Jack Mair, bought the company in the early 1940s and renamed it Maircraft. This company was one of the handful of solid kit producers who issued models in a consistent 1/48 scale during the 1930s and 1940s (others included Hawk and Dyna-Model). This lead to one of the most desirable and rare model kits ever produced in the USA - the wood/plastic 1/48 United DC-3 model issued immediately after World War 2. Other than the P-61 and a few other Maircraft offerings, most were simple kits that sold for the low price of about 35 cents and gave the owners many hours of pleasurable work. This kit features a full size multi-view plans with instructions steps and templates, fuselage that is 3D cut (~70%), profile cut wings, other wooden parts and a factory sealed envelope of small parts. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions.

Master Modelcraft Supply Co Fiat CR-40 - Actually A CR-42 DB or CR-30 or CR-32, 1/40, 12MM

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Likely from the 1940s. This is a solid wood model with an 8 inch wingspan. Features 2D cut fuselage block, quality printwood wings, die-cut horizontal and vertical stabilizer, printwood, die-cut propeller, fully formed wheels, wood stock, blue insignia sheet and very nice full size plans with templates, text instructions and even the color scheme. Complete and never started. NOTE: Master Modelcraft advertises this as a CR-40. Most reference material I have shows a CR40 with a radial engine, which this model clearly does not have. The in-line engine and the lines of the ship align much more with a CR-42DB, CR30 or CR32. I believe it is actually one of those three and they simply made an error in the name.

Aurora N-156 Freedom Fighter - (F-5), 1/48, 140-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Hardbox issue dated 1962 with fantastic Jo Kotula box artwork. Given the 130 cent price extension, this issue is actually closer to the middle 1960s. This kit is a very good representation of the rare 'Freedom Fighter' prototype N-156. It developed into the F-5, which was widely exported and saw service in over 30 countries. Only three of the N-156 prototypes were built. The design centered around two GE J85 turbojets which originally powered the ADM-20 Quail decoy carried by the B-52 fleet. Initially there seemed to be little demand until President Kennedy's Military Assistance Program required a low-cost fighter that could be provided to US Allies. The N-156 was easily the top choice. It was renamed the F-5 and the rest is history - it became one of the most widely used fighter/bombers in post-WWII history and is still in service in some air forces. This kit features a pilot figure, 'good' cockpit, three drop tanks, early AIM-9 Sidewinder Air-to-Air Missiles and more. Molded in white and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Hasegawa Boeing B-47E Stratojet - USAF SAC, 1/72, K7

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

Sold

Still factory sealed. Kit is very nicely molded with fine raised panel detail, cockpit, open/closed bomb bay doors with internal iron bomb load, tail "stinger" and detailed gear well and landing gear. The B-47 was a very advanced aircraft at the time. The XB-47 first flew in 1947. The big jet's speed was equal to or greater than all current fighter aircraft, so it received radar-controlled twin 20mm cannons in the tail as the only guns. Through the use of mid-air refueling, the B-47 gave SAC it's first all-jet force for nuclear or regular bomb delivery. Although it was tricky to fly, Stratojets flew into the mid 1960s. A program to strengthen the wings for low-level attack was responsible for prolonging the service life.
