Hasegawa General Dynamics (Convair) F-102A Delta Dagger, 1/72, JS47-180

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Older hard box issue. When designed in 1950 the F-102 was a radical departure from conventional early jet fighter design. The delta wing allowed supersonic performance and good low speed handling. It was the first US Aircraft to be armed with missiles alone, 6 Falcons carried internally and 12 x 2.75 inch HVAR rockets in the weapons bay doors. The F-102 equipped all 25 of the ADC squadrons in the day, served in SE Asia and equipped many ANG units. Features opened or closed missile bay, full Falcon missile load, optional position landing gear and wing mounted drop tanks. Decals for two aircraft, one from the 68th FS and one from the 32nd FS. Never started. Factory sealed bag or 100% inventoried with all parts/decals and instructions present.

Marlin Chemical and Ladder - American Firefighters, 1/48, 101 FC

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

Very rare. In 1952 Marlin Toy Company of New York City, New York entered the plastic model business. The Revell 'Highway Pioneers' were making a huge impact on the hobby industry and the timing seemed perfect. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters -Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel. The boxes were identical as a cost saving measure - similar to the Revell Highway Pioneers. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After a run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This is an original Marlin kit and contains the Chemical and Ladder. It is molded in dark red and yellow with the small parts still sealed in the factory wax bag. The non-sealed parts have been inventoried complete including rope, metal axles and instructions in excellent condition.

Maircraft V-1 Robot Bomb (Buzz Bomb) - Solid Wood 1/48 Kit, 1/48

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Solid wood scale kit from about 1945. This is a high quality model for this type of kit. The fuselage, wings and pulse jet engine are accurately precut in two dimensions, which greatly speeds up assembly time. Includes an superb set of instructions with full size drawings, a full set of templates, full instructions, aircraft background and specifications, a nicely done cut away drawing of the V-1 and a display stand. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including all parts and instructions. Maircraft was originally founded in the early or mid 1930s by Gordon Christoph and went by the name Aircraft Model Company. The company produced a typical line of solid 'profile cut' kits that required the usual high talent levels for carving and finishing. A former Comet Model Airplane & Supply Co. salesman, Jack Mair, bought the company in the early 1940s and renamed it Maircraft. This company was one of the handful of solid kit producers who issued models in a consistent 1/48 scale during the 1930s and 1940s (others included Hawk and Dyna-Model), and eventually even made the 'Little Gem' series in constant 1/72 scale.

Features separately molded rudder, elevator and ailerons, pilot and gunner figure and detailed engines with rotating propellers. This kit has never been started. It is still in the internally sealed factory bag with decals and instructions. This box has some of my favorite Jo Kotula boxart. Kotula originally did 1930s covers for the magazine 'Model Airplane News' and later the Aurora box art of the late 1950s. Air Lines kits are all Frog molds that the Lines Brothers imported to the USA between 1964-1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which show the boxart but not the advertising/logo.
