Dates from the late 1960s/early 1970s. This kit is from Airfix molds and is one of the MPC issues with wild custom decals and the unique clear modular display stand. Sterling SE-5 Scout with 'Auto-Magic' Pilot - 20 inch Wingspan For Control Line or Free Flight, M-5

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Mid 1960s stick-and-tissue flying model with special 'Auto Magic Pilot' feature and 20 inch wingspan. Can be built for scale static display, rubber free-flight or gas powered control line or Auto Magic Pilot, where the aircraft flies by itself on a tether and maintains level flight. Features full size plans, many die-cut balsa wood parts, main spars, stringers, plastic nose radiator and exhaust manifolds, covering tissue, completely formed and painted wooden wheels, die-cut plywood parts, clear material for windscreen and steel pre-shaped landing gear struts. Full size plans are included that also include highly detailed text instructions. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing decals and two sheets of parts have been very neatly adult punched out. Inventoried with all wood, metal and plastic parts present including plans/instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and were much nicer than most other kits of this type.

Aurora Rockwell 1121 Jet Commander, 1/72, 85-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Sold

Factory sealed. 1968 issue hardbox. Nicely detailed kit features recessed panel lines, full interior with rear bulkhead, couch, chairs and console, cockpit with chairs, instrument panel, control yokes, forward bulkhead and clear windows. Includes optional position landing gear and colorful decals. The Jet Commander was the jet powered follow-on to the famous Aero Commander twin private aircraft. But shortly after 1121 delivery began in 1965, Rockwell bought Aero Commander. The 1121 was competition for the Rockwell Sabreliner business jet in the same class, so Rockwell sold the Jet commander to IAI. Initial releases under IAI were called the 1123. Improvements to the 1123 design lead to the IAI 1124 Westwind powered by 731 fan engines. Legend has it that these molds were lost and/or destroyed in a train wreck. Monogram bought Aurora's molds and was transporting them to the Monogram factory when the accident happened.

Monogram Boeing B-52D Stratofortress with Jet Sound - Factory Sealed, 1/72, PA215

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+++

Sold

Exceptional 1968 first issue in wonderful condition. The box is straight and square with perfect color and gloss, no fading and no price tags. The only flaws are minor light wear as shown and one closed split on a corner. Inside, this kit is still factory sealed. Monogram only sealed this kit from the inside by gluing on the yellow cardboard and clear cello. It was intended for the potential buyer to lift off the box top where they would be greeted with a beautiful display of Monogram workmanship and model design neatly displayed on a cardboard background. All internals are still mint and you can see. This is a very nicely detailed model that features 207 pieces, a crew of three, detailed cockpit, elevating and traversing rear turret, opening and closing bomb bay doors, operating wing flaps, operating spoilers, optional position entry hatch and landing gear, and optional parts to display one nacelle open to show the jet engine.
