William H Low Co La France Aerial Ladder New York Fire Department Truck Circa 1900 - Wilo Line Fire Truck, 1/24, FL10

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Very, very rare and the flagship kit of the line. Likely from the 1940s. William H Low Co., of Braintree Mass., issued the 'Wilo Line' which included a superb series of antique commercial firefighting equipment. The scale is given as 1/2" and the finished wagon is over 14 inches long with the ladders, and even bigger with the 6" front carriage bar. The kits were very advanced for the time and shared many of the pre-fabrication methods of Hudson Miniatures. This kit is based on the La France prototype made for the NYFD around 1900. Please note this is a full operating model and not for the faint of heart! Features plastic injection molded spoke wheels, precut large hardwood parts, fully formed hardwood ladder frames that are drilled for the pre-cut ladder rungs, extinguishers, lanterns and much more, two clear factory-sealed small parts bags including a great many fully cut or carved wood ones, metal parts and even plastic parts. Also includes brass screen material metal stock, complete instructions with detailed plans and full text step-by-step guide, painting notes and even a photo of the actual prototype. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bags. The parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete including instructions/plans. The kits in this line include CH110 Combination Hose Wagon, FC15 Chemical and Reel Carts, F16 Horses in the same scale, CL120 Hook And Ladder, CL120 (again) City Service Ladder (a completely different kit from the previous one), FC180 Combination Chemical Wagon, FH130 Hose Wagon, FP7 Amoskeag Steamer, CR110 Service Hose Reel, FL10 Aerial Ladder, F18 Chemical Engine and more. In most cases they are the only kits in existence of these historic vehicles. Bill Low did design at least one 'non-fire truck' kit in his Will-O-Line - a Conestoga Wagon, advertised as being 1/24 scale, kit #B14 for $2.85 listed as "This is another Museum Piece by Bill Low." After seeing these fire truck kits, I do not doubt that.

Viking Models Seawolf SSN21 Underway Nuclear Attack Submarine, 1/350, VKB1007

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Rare and unusual limited release that has excellent detail. The Seawolf is molded underway in a realistic resin sea-base with an excellent wake coming off the sub. Details are metal and PE brass. The best way to think of this kit is that it is a diorama; there is no 'free-standing' sub model, it is part of the molded resin display. The photo shows the assembled and painted kit. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.
