Aurora The Wanderer Whaler, 1/87, 440-595

Rare 1966 hardbox kit. Very large 1/87 scale (2 feet long) and detailed kit of a classic commercial whaler. This model was one of a small series of large scale sailing ships made by Aurora to appeal to the serious ship modeler. Molded in correct dark wood, black, tan, ivory and white. Features billowing sails, metal anchor chains, running and standing rigging, molded ratlines and display stand. The box is poor but inside the kit is like new. It has not been started and all parts are still sealed in the original factory bags. Complete with instructions and decals.

Very unusual decals for Cuba and Iraqi Air Forces as well as Czech. This kit is part of an early effort by AMT to market quality Hasegawa kits in the USA. Hasegawa made the kits and decals in Japan and shipped them to AMT, who supplied the boxes and marketing. Never started. Very rare 'plastic and precarved wood" kit. Before there were injection molded plastic kits, model builders worked in wood or metal. Advanced companies, like Monogram, saw the advantage of plastic and began marketing kits with plastic details and fully-carved fuselage, wings, etc. This beautiful kit is one the highest quality composite static kits from the early to mid 1950s. Second issue (1969 Blue Box) of the famous 1950s Willy Ley Space Taxi from the Monogram Space Series. Features interior detail, opening hatch, astronauts with lifelines and globe mounting base. Pyro Dutch Flintlock Pistol, 1/1, C230-129

From about 1966. In addition to cars, ships, planes and figures, Pyro added an excellent line of well-known and not-so-well-known life-sized (1/1) scale pistol and rifle models to their line. In each case Pyro gained access to the actual weapon during the kit design, insuring a very accurate model. This is a full size model is based on the copy in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The kit has never been started. From quality ex-Frog molds. Nicely molded with fine panel line detail and no rivets. Features separately molded ailerons, elevators, rudder, crew of two and torpedo loadout. This kit has never been started. NOTE: missing decals. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s.

This kit is from Airfix molds and is one of the MPC '3 Big Bonus' features series. Dates from the late 1960s/early 1970s. The model features customizing parts (such as chrome plated bombs, missiles, prop, exhaust, air scoops, antenna and guns) and the clear modular display stand. Note that this issue still has 'Craft Master' under the MPC logo. Before this, MPC was marketing Airfix kits under the Craftmaster name in the USA. This continued for several issues and was finally discontinued although MPC continued to distribute Airfix and their own models. This kit has never been started. NOTE: missing decals. Inventoried with all other aircraft parts, modular stand, custom chrome parts and instructions.

Rare early issue. The kit features moving rotors, cockpit, clear windows and optional position doors. Never started. The 192 first flew in 1958 and was the first helicopter in the world with true twin-engine safety, meaning that it could fly home and land safely at any gross weight.

Type Three logo issue. As her sister Rodney, she was designed with her main battery of 16" guns in triple turrets forward to make the armored box shorter to save weight. This did shorten the ship and reduce weight, but further sacrifices in available space and weight in propulsion made for a low top speed. Never started.
