This larger-scale kit features 60 pieces, full hull, all recessed panel lines, hull welding marks, two conning tower variants, net cutter, vents, detailed screws & rudder, periscope, 20mm anti-aircraft gun and more. Includes decals for U9, U20 and U23. The Type II U-boat was an handsomely aggressive mid-war submarine designed by Nazi Germany. After the near victory of the U-Boat in the first World War, the German High Command knew that submarines would play a major roll in the next war and the fact that they were relatively inexpensive made them even more attractive; however, the Treaty of Versailles forbid them. The Type IIB was a coastal U-boat modeled after the CV-707 submarine, which had been designed by the Dutch dummy company NV Ingenieurskantoor voor Scheepsbouw Den Haag. Just like post-war German military activity in the USSR, this was was set up to continue military technology for future U-Boat. The first boat was built in 1933 by the Finnish Crichton-Vulcan shipyard in Turku, Finland. While never intended to be a far-ranging ocean-going vessel, it's job was to train a nucleus of officers and non-coms for the upcoming German Navy. It not only did this job well but paved the way for most future U-Boat designs.

Includes a beautifully factory-painted, 1/25 scale resin figure of Mickey Thompson. This is the 2012 reissue of the original 1962 kit. When released in 1962, this car was one of the revolutionary Revell kits that broke new ground in 1/25 level of detail. In Tom Graham's interviews with Jim Keeler, the kit designer, the molds cost $80,000 in 1961 - twice that of a normal car kit. To design the kit, Thompson's mechanics gave the Revell team full run of the vehicle and even disassembled it for them. The model features removable body panels, four super detailed Pontiac V-8 engines with 18 parts each, complete chassis, suspension and drive train detail, water tanks, fuel tanks, parachute holder, cockpit and much more. The level of detail is astounding for that time. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
