Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

The hanger came in four sizes and the RFC and RAF used this 20 x 24 metre type. The hangers were used in France, Britain, Canada, Russia, the Middle and Far East, and at least one was captured and used by the Germans. The hanger was popular post-war, being used to house Hawker Harts in 1936, Meteors in Changi in 1957 and RAF Wessex helicopters in an aluminum framed Bessonneau from 1966-1968. The last known example was used at RAF Halton into the late 1970s. Still factory sealed.

Guillows Fokker D-VIII Flying Razor - 18 inch Wingspan Rubber Powered Balsa Wood Kit, 106

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

One of a very popular line of World War 1 flying aircraft stick and tissue kits with 18 inch wingspan. Kit features scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, light vacuform nose cowl, die cut balsa parts, colored tissue, rubber motor and full decals. Includes full size detailed plans. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

Monogram Hot Rod - Monogram's 2nd Plastic Model, 1/24, P2-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Sold

Rare and historical kit. This is the second Monogram plastic kit which was issued in 1954. The first kit was P1, the Midget Racer. The 'Hot Rod' is certainly the rarer of the two. The box is in extraordianry condition. Inside, the kit is still sealed in the original cello bag. The bag does not have any splits, which is highly unusual due to the age and brittle nature of the cello. The instructions are mint. There is a small kit catalogue included, and it is the correct one as it shows only two plastic models in Monogram's complete line! Unlike many other Monogram automotive kits, this kit has never been reissued.
