The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including instructions. The 80 hp Le Rhone was developed before WWI and was used in many early aircraft. It did see service early in the Great War and it's follow on, the 110 hp Le Rhone was used in larger aircraft. The crankshaft of the Le Rhone mounted directly to the firewall and was part of the air and fuel intake system. The crankcase, propeller shaft and cylinders all revolved at about 1200 rpm. Renwal M-50 Ontos 'The Thing With The Sting', 1/32, M557-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc-

Sold

Rare 1950s original issue; not a common reissue. Fantastic first issue 'Blueprint' hardbox artwork and a highly detailed kit featuring 11 parts, combat crew of three, working treads, some interior detail, opening hatches and covers and more. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The Ontos was a unique vehicle. Ontos is a Greek word for 'The Thing' and the vehicles lives up to that. Developed along a new concept in mobile warfare, the Ontos has little defense other than movement but a very powerful offensive punch. It carries six 106mm recoilless rifles and .50 caliber spotting rifles. The firing sequence went like this: the crew of three would get out and hand-load the six large guns. Then the Ontos would quickly move towards the target. Once sited, the gunner would fire the .50 caliber spotting rifle. This gun fired a different cartridge, a special low velocity round that matched the trajectory of the 106mm. The spotting round was very accurate and made a visible flash on striking the target. Then he could fire a full salvo of 6 or in steps of two. The 8.5 ton vehicle would then speed away, moving to a safe location to reload.

Renwal M65 280mm Atomic Cannon with M249 and M250 50 Ton Heavy Gun Lifting Truck/Transporters, 1/32, 553

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Original 1950s/early 1960s issue - not the common Revell reissue. Hard-to-find and very desirable. The box top says 'Fully Operating Model Does Everything But Fire' and it is true. It consists of over 300 parts and has many action features typical of Renwal models. The wheels roll, tractors can be hooked to the cannon which can be stowed in the 'travel' position. The gun can move into the 'fire' position off the tractors and can be trained realistically. Molded in the correct olive drab plastic. The kit has never been started. The parts are as they came from the factory: the majority of them are still in the Renwal staple factory sealed bags. The trees that Renwal never sealed have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions. The factory blue and pink "A" and "B" signs are present in the sealed bags. Decals are in 'very good+' condition and flat. The instructions are 'excellent' with yellowing and very minor bug damage as the only real flaw. The box displays grades 'Very Good' but displays slightly better. But I graded it as such because there was one closed-split corner and general light wear and slight bug damage on the lower edges and corners. The corner has been fixed correctly with glue only (no tape). The lower box tray is very nice also and has four solid corners but one long closed split on a seam.

The engine core (crankcase) parts have been cut out and assembled. Quality of assembly is 'very good+.' The kit has been inventoried complete with all parts, plans and insignia sheets. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called 'The Aviation Craze' that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest operating single-owner model airplane supply business, called Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviations great Recruiter, Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.
