Megow USS New York BB-34 - Wooden Ship Kit, HC15

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc-

Sold

Dated 1936. Hard to find kit in this condition. The assembled model is 11.5 inches long and depicts the New York from that year (single funnel). This is a very nice kit for that time, including a pre-carved hull, sandpaper, two sheets of delicately done printwood including decks, lifeboats, turrets, decks, catapult, deck fittings, aircraft, funnel, mast and gun barrel stock and a beautifully done full color flag sheet. The instructions include full-size overhead and side drawings, numerous hull sections, instructions, a very nice photo of the completed model and more. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes flags and instructions.

Whitman Publishing Fighting Ships Yorktown CV-5 / Maury DD-401 / North Carolina / Philadelphia CL-41, 2

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

From 1939. All four kits are included and are of very small scale - each is only 3-4 inches long when built. These wooden kits were once very common; now they are rare. Although inexpensive in their day, they provided much entertainment to boys who had skill with a knife. The kit contains hull blocks, very highly detailed, quality printwood for the small parts, fold out instructions with detailed side and top elevations for each ship as well as 5 cross sections to help with shaping. This kit has not been started and is like new inside and 100% complete. The wood is all still wrapped in the factory tissue paper. The instructions are excellent but have the typical yellowing. The sealed bag of Whitman 'Tentacle Cement' is still present. Whitman and other manufacturers produced numerous kits of this type. The back of the box mentions five series, with each series containing four kits - Racing Autos, Fighting Ships (this kit), Streamlined Locomotives, Boats and Yachts and Army Equipment.
