Never started and complete. Please NOTE: there are paint stains on the box and also on the plans. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Master Modelcraft Supply Co Douglas A-20A Boston / Havoc, 1/48

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

From about 1943 - certainly a wartime issue from the 'We are in a fight to WIN!' drawing on the instructions and an urging to buy war bonds. This is a deluxe solid wood model in big quarter scale. Features beautiful completely finished hardwood fuselage, two cut-to-shape balsa wings with rough airfoils already formed, profile cut balsa nacelles and tail feathers, two cast metal three-blade propellers, fully formed wheels, wood stock as necessary, tinted celluloid for canopies (not printed), sand paper, full color insignia, factory glass bottles of glue and dope and very large full-size plans that include stabilizer and wing dihedral gauges, cross sections, aircraft description and spec and even text instructions. Never started and complete. Box top is complete but has closed edge splits. Master Modelcraft Supply Company made wooden model aircraft and ships and listed their address as N.Y. 66, New York during the early 1950s.

Comet North American P-51B Mustang Speed Glider - 18 inch Wingspan Flying Model, G2

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

From 1944. The 'Speed Glider' here was designed by the great Carl Goldberg. This type of model was tied to a string, which was in turn connected to a wooden stick 2 or 3 feet long. An accomplished pilot could whip the aircraft around, performing an excellent variety of stunts. As you can imagine, the kit has very sturdy construction to take these high speed maneuvers. It features two sheets of die cut, thin hardwood parts, hardwood and balsa stock, two sheets of full color covering material with complete aircraft color, windows and insignia (which completely eliminates painting) and detailed plans with balance and flight information. The fuselage is profile, while the wings and tail surfaces are built up the traditional stick and tissue way. Although in the end, there is no tissue but the superb full color decorated paper wraps that cover all the surfaces of the model. This kit has never been started. NOTE: missing one small section of one wood sheet; the three small parts on it are on the other sheet, they are very simple to duplicate. Inventoried with all other parts, covering papers and plans. The box appears much better than 'Good-' but I have graded it such because one large end flap and the four small flaps have fallen off. They are present and included however, and you could easily repair the box to make it complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models.
