Life-Like Mercedes Benz SSK Sportswagen - (ex-Pyro), 1/32, 09348

1970s Life-Like issue using the original 1966 Pyro molds. Features detailed chassis, complete motor, removable hood and full interior. Molded in ivory, clear, chrome plate and rubber tires. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of their kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. Initially Life-Like had to mention Pyro on the boxes as part of the buy-out agreement- but at this point, Life-Like was no longer putting 'Licensed by Pyro Plastics' on the box sides.

The legendary Stormovik gave the Germans nothing but trouble on the Eastern Front. Designed as a heavily armed single seat or dual seat attack aircraft, the Stormovik was very difficult to shoot down; even then if the pilot could crash land it, he had an excellent chance of walking away and flying again the next day. Il-2M3s endlessly attacked German forward and rear positions effectively and in large numbers till the end of the war. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Lindberg Junkers Ju-87B Stuka Dive Bomber, 1/48, 524-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Late 1950s hardbox issue with Ray Gaedke box artwork. Please note that this is an early issue with the white circle on the rudder for the swastika. The swastika is not present on the box artwork. The factory removed the swastikas from the decal sheet since this issue was sold in countries where it was illegal. As a historical note, this kit was originally issued with the swastika on the box art and decals - Lindberg quickly recognized that this was poor publicity in the USA at that time and more importantly that the kit could not be sold in Europe. The second issue had the box art modified to remove the swastika but not the white circle and the offending markings were cut from the decal sheet. The third issue had the white circle removed from the box art and the decal sheet was redesigned to exclude it also. Molded in correct gloss medium green and clear, with the futuristic Lindberg 'V' shaped clear stand. For it's time, this was an excellent kit with fine panel and rivet detail. Features crew of two and seats, separately molded rudder and flap/ailerons, four small wing load bombs and a center bomb with 'swing arm' so that it would clear the prop in a dive. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Thanks to Dusty Rhodes for this information: The markings with this model, A5+HL, are from a -B2 (Trop.) captured intact in North Africa, 1941 and shipped to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. It is still there today (2020). This may very well be the aircraft that Lindberg Skokie-based designers examined as a basis for this model.

Lindberg Douglas A4D-1 Skyhawk - (A-4), 1/48, 529-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

From the mid 1950s. Early issue small narrow box with classic Ray Gaedeck Box Art. For some reason, this model is rarer than the other Lindberg kits of that time. This model represents the very early (probably prototype) Skyhawk, which is no surprise; Lindberg, like Aurora, often tried to be 'first to market' and did not hesitate to use prototypes for kits. Features detailed jet engine, opening inspection panel, pilot and ejection seat, opening canopy, full landing gear, centerline drop tank, wing rockets and display stand. Never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box displays slightly better than the 'good-' rating but is graded as such because there is clear tape on the four sides where the box was taped shut more than once.

Lindberg North American F-86 Sabre Jet, 1/48, 505-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Early issue with the circular (first) logo on the 2 long sides and the yellow rectangular 'Lindberg Line' logo on top and two short ends. Features dramatic Ray Gaedke box art, pilot and ejction seat, two piece canopy, full landing gear, two wing drop tanks, 8 wing-mounted rockets, display stand and decals for the very colorful box art aircraft (including all stripes). Molded in silver and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.
