Imai 1906 Mercedes-Benz Motorized - (ex-Bandai / Mercedes Benz), 1/16, 1-3407-998

Sold

Very, very rare. From ex-Bandai molds. Highly detailed, large-scale model with RE-14 motor drive. Includes a novel, well-engineered and correctly hidden metal drive box with gears and transaxle for drive on both rear wheels. Bandai engineered this model so the drive belts and cogs move just like on the real car. The on/off system has been improved over the original Bandai system; the engine now operates from a hidden switch under the floorboard and the motor is reversed from a switch on the floor of the interior. The headlights also operate. The batteries are cleverly hidden under the front seat. Kit features detailed scale engine, removable hood, full frame and detailed underside, complete suspension, front wheels that can be turned, full interior, opening doors and more. To minimize or eliminate painting, Imai molded this kit in gloss white, red, gray, black, brown, clear, brass plate, nickel plate and with rubber tires, metal parts, flexible drive belts and more. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. The glue is not present, and was probably never included.

The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which show the boxart but not the advertising/logo. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model.

Pyro 1936 Duesenberg SSJ LaGrande-Bodied Roadster, 1/32, C412-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

1966 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to, in this case Gary Cooper and Clark Gable's automobiles. This was the Duesenberg Company's last great automobile before going out of business in 1937. The Model J was a superb automobile and the fastest and finest car of it's day. Never to be outdone, the two brothers made two supercharged 'Super-Duesenbergs' from J models and are referred to by the public as SSJs. (The term SSJ was never used by the factory) The output was a whopping 400 bhp. The model includes rubber tires, wire wheels, a tree of chrome plated parts, colored injection molded parts and clear parts. Features detailed chassis with suspension, complete motor, removable hood and a complete interior. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Sold

From 1977 with John Steel box art. An excellent kit with simplified assembly; a slightly easier build than Revell's kit of the same size. The scale is not mentioned but this one measures just over 16 inches long when assembled. I estimate that it has been 75 to 100 parts. Features finely engraved one piece hull, detailed deck with all fittings, one-piece masts and yards, molded ratlines, vacuform sails, rigging thread, rigging instructions, display stand and decals. Molded in black, wood tan and the sails in ivory vacuform plastic. There is no assembly but NOTE: many small detail parts are painted to 'good' quality. There is no major painting. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.
