Hudson Miniatures 1914 Ford Model T Fire Engine

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Very Rare. Large (1/16) scale fire engine kit. Dated 1949 and very highly detailed for that time. Features numerous wooden parts that are either die-cut, factory saw cut or machined, wood stock, metal stock, beautiful plastic wheels, grill, steering wheel and lanterns, metal stock and parts, die-cut cardstock and two big sheets of excellent plans/instructions. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the sealed bag. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including instructions. Hudson Miniatures created a very popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well...so well that you could argue that Gowland & Gowland borrowed Hudson's subject matter for their ground-breaking 'Highway Pioneers.' The Hudson Miniatures 'Old Timers' even spawned a line of imitators, with Fador's 'Smallster' being one of the better in quality. Sales did drop on the appearance and popularity of the much smaller (and less accurate) Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. When the all-injection molded Gowland kits proved not to be a passing fad, Hudson quickly planned and released his own all-plastic, small-scale competition called 'Lil' Old Timers Quickie Kits.' The kits were of excellent quality, but it was too little too late. Additionally, sales of the excellent wooden kits faltered further in the next few years with the introduction of accurate, 1/24 and 1/32 all-plastic cars in the mid 1950s. This forced Hudson to discontinue the wood kits and the plastic line was sold to Revell and subsequently re-released. Today, these excellent, big 1/16 kits are often the only model available of these early automobiles. In the mid 1960s Aurora thought so highly of Hudson Miniatures that they purchased the wood kit assets and released a very small number of these in all-plastic models.

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

Features a completely pre-carved hardwood hull, wooden hardwood superstructure parts that are completely cut and shaped, preformed gun tubs, details such as anchors, guns, vents, lockers, ammo boxes, rudder, propellers, life rafts, bow ramps and much more that are all made from metal, wood, heavy embossed bristol board and other materials as well. Includes full size plans with detailed parts list and instructions. The kit has never been started. The small parts that were factory sealed are still in factory sealed bags. The other parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete with the internal cardboard presentation material and large, detailed instructions with plans. Rogers was an early producer of miniature gas engines for free-flight and early radio control model kits and often had large adds for these engines in hobby magazines. The full company name on the box is listed as 'Rogers Motor Company Detroit Michigan' and the 'Scale Model Division' is listed as Tawas City, Michigan. Right near the end of WWII, Rogers made a very short journey into kit manufacturing. As you would expect from an engine manufacturer, the kits had excellent detail, were highly prefabricated and were fairly complicated. Rogers produced at least five kits - the M4 Sherman Tank, 40MM AA Gun and Carriage (1/16 scale), Army Weasel, LST and this LCI. These kits were likely produced in that order, with the LCI being released around 1946. I have seen several Rogers ship kits built and they make excellent displays.

Airfix Short Sunderland Craftmaster Issue, 1/72, 1-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

SALE! Classic 1960s issue with great artwork. A merchant ship is sinking on the left and the crew is in lifeboats in the foreground on lower side panel. The Sunderland is preparing to rescue them, while the other Sunderland depth-charges the U-boat responsible for the sinking. Kit features beaching gear, rotating turrets with elevating guns, movable control surfaces, external bomb load and rotating props. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box displays slight better than the grade but is 'Good' because there is blue painting tape on some of the box sides. The Sunderland's 21-year record with the RAF has made it a legend. Derived from the Empire Class Flying Boat Airliners, Sunderland IIIs had a top speed of 210 mph and an endurance of 12 hours. These qualities made the Sunderland a superb platform for North Sea and North Atlantic patrols, ASW and SAR. Crews usually loved the airplane; its large size afforded many airborne comforts that bomber or fighter crews could only dream of, such as bunk, a head and an area for food preparation.

Frog DeHavilland Mosquito Mk4 or Mk6 / TWO DeHavilland Hornet F.Mk.3 / TWO Martin 167 Maryland / Spirit of St. Louis, 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good- to Exc

Sold

SALE!! Includes all 5 kits in the boxes shown. NOTE: Sold AS-IS and not inventoried. This collector was very meticulous and of his kits that I did inventory, 95% are complete. But on these kits he cut the sprue (trees) with the part numbers still attached to each number, so the parts are loose. Because of that, I have not inventoried these kits. NOTE: he built minor sub assemblies (cockpit tubs, wing halves, etc) to "professional" quality. He also almost always removed the displays stands (if provided). Again, these kits are sold not inventoried and AS IS hence the very low price.
