Monogram Curtiss P-36A Hawk (Model 75) - White Box Issue, 1/72, 6790

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Poor

Sold

1979 issue and a very finely molded and detailed kit in the traditional Monogram style. Never started. The aircraft has been inventoried with all parts, decals and instructions present. NOTE: missing display stand. The Hawk P-36A has the dubious distinction of fighting on both sides and for more countries than any other plane in history during the opening years of WWII. This Hawk, one in a long progression of famous fighter aircraft, was the winner of a 1935 competition. The USAA Corps received the first aircraft in April of 1938 and the French ordered 100 aircraft in May of the same year. French Hawks shot down just over 30 German planes during the battle for France. The Germans captured the aircraft and sold them to Finland. Others were captured when the Germans overran Norway. In all over 800 Hawks were produced and served in China, Netherlands East Indies, Portugal, Great Britain, Thailand, Argentina and Peru. Although an excellent fighter in 1935, the Hawk was outclassed by the time the war started but when flown properly still gave a good account of itself.

Corsair Armada USS Wasp CV7 Aircraft Carrier, 1/700, CAP-7011

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

Sold

CV7 was the only ship of her class and a result of trying to use up alloted tonnage from the Washington Naval Treaty. She was almost as large as the Yorktown class and carried a large air grou; but as a result, Wasp was very light and had virtually no armor protection at all. This is a superb waterline model featuring a full-length detailed hanger bay. Extremely well detailed and will full instructions. The kit has never been started. US Borax Borax Twenty Mule Team and Wagon (20 Mule Team), 1/48

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

The Borax company commissioned this kit as a tie-in to the TV series 'Death Valley Days.' From looking at the moldings and instructions, believe that Revell may have produced the kit for Borax. Very nicely detailed model with 20 mule team, two Borax wagons and one water wagon. Never started. The brown parts are still in the factory sealed bag; the blue parts bag had a tear, so I opened it and did an inventory on those parts - they are complete. With instructions. Originally a radio program, 'Death Valley Days' had a long run on television and ended as one of the longest running westerns in entertainment history. Very nice kit of the famous borax wagons that would cross 162 miles of Death Valley with 20 mules in the days before the railroad. There was not a single house or other sign of habitation along the route. One leg was 60 miles with no water. The two wagons carried 25 tons of Borax and the mules covered 16 to 18 miles a day with a two man crew. The sturdy wagons were purpose built for the trip. Although they carried huge loads, there is no record of one every being stranded.
