Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

After the initial issue, Pyro re-marketed the Harriett Lane as the 'Lavinia,' which was what the Confederates renamed her when they captured and converted her to a blockade runner. This kit was originally made in the early to mid 1960s and is well detailed for that time. Features full hull, full deck fittings, railings, detailed running and standing rigging diagrams, sails, rigging material and more. Molded in green (hull), wood tan, medium gray and black. The cutter was 180 feet long with a 30 foot beam and displacement was 670 tons. Armament consisted of 3-9 inch Dahlgrens and 1-30 lb Parrot Rifle. She was built at a time when steam was not fool-proof, so she is rigged for full sails. Harriett Lane served as the Presidential Yacht, the fired the first shot of the Civil War. She chased down blockade runners until January 1, 1863 when she was attacked by five Confederate Gun Boats and boarded. She was captured and renamed the Lavinia and was used as a blockade runner. Near the end of the war she caught fire at sea, and put into Havana Harbor. Federal forces took her again and rebuilt her in 1869 as the bark 'Elliot Ritchie'. She was abandoned at sea in 1884.

Contrail Vickers Armstrong Warwick Accessory Pack With Matchbox PK-402 Wellington, 1/72

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Designed for Air Ministry specification B.1/35 for a two-engined heavy bomber, the Warwick was to replace the Wellington and used the same sturdy geodetic 'basket weave' construction. However, the prototype orders were canceled in 1936 to concentrate on four-engine bombers. Vickers completed two of the prototypes anyway. RAF Coastal Command liked what it saw and eventually 712 Warwicks were produced and used for transports, air-sea rescue, meteorological recon and anti-submarine work. One saw use as a BOAC Transport and the aircraft was used by the Air Forces of Poland and South Africa. Unstarted and complete. The Contrail Warwick is still factory sealed. It features well molded vac parts with numerous injection molded parts (gear struts, wheels, engines, etc). The Matchbox Wellington (required as a base kit for the Contrail accessory pack) is bagged, not boxed. It has not been started and is complete except NOTE: missing one part, a small gear door. With decals and instructions.
