Revell Spanish Galleon, 1/65, H400

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

NOTE: builder only, please read carefully. 1974 issue. Highly detailed and large model, measuring 28.5 inches long and 25 inches high. Features full hull, detailed cannon and deck fittings, vac sails, large colorful decal sheet with designs on them as per the box artwork, large color flag sheet, pre-formed ratlines and more. Full rigging instructions and material are included. Two of the vac sails have closed splits from the plastic being brittle. The kit has no assembly and is inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals, flag sheet, instructions, rigging diagram and rigging material. NOTE: this kit has some very neatly done painting. The hull halves, (2) rear superstructure, fantail and cannons are painted. As you can see from the sample photo, the quality of paint is 'excellent+' to 'professional' with the only problem being that another coat is required in some places (below the waterline on the hull, for example). Also, 2.2 inches of the port bow tip is broken and missing. Fortunately, this is a part that can be made by first assembling the hull halves, then gluing sheet styrene to the existing starboard tip. Then shape the styrene to match the starboard side.

From the late 1960s. Large scale model can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight, or converted to electric RC using modern small, light servos and receivers. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.
