Frog Lockheed Ventura PV-1 Bomber/Reconnaissance, 1/72, F240

Very rare. Near the end (in the 1970s), Frog had projected several future kits. In the case of the Ventura, the molds were cut but the kit was never released. Around 40,000 boxes were made anticipating production. Most of the boxes were destroyed. A unknown number of decals sheets were produced. There are no instruction sheets reported. The mold was put in the machine and 100 test shots were run - the only Ventura run at Frog. The 100 test shots were not sold but some found their way into collectors hands. This example is in a 'good+' box with four solid corners, no tears, writing or stickers, excellent color, a crease at the right & another smaller crease at the upper left and light general wear. It contains the decals and parts. I have inventoried the kit and NOTE: it is missing the tail wheel and (1) seat. It is molded in the correct Frog test-shot gloss dark blue and clear. The decals are in amazing 'near mint' condition and include the protective wax cover sheet. The kit has never been started. Please note there are no instructions as none were ever made. Shipping insurance is required for this kit.

This is a very well detailed kit for that time and features good underside molded-in detail, rotating wheels, guard rails that convert into seats, opening tailgate, opening cab doors, detailed interior, driver figure and 6 soldiers, cable reels, duffle bags, radio, rifles, generator, mortar, machine gun and tripod. Molded in olive drab, clear and with flexible rubber tires. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note that the box displays 'excellent' in the photo but is graded 'very good' because there is some bubbling in the litho, moderate scuffing on the short right side panel and one close split corner at the lower left.

The red parts are still in the sealed factory bags. The parts that were never sealed (chrome, clear and tires) have been inventoried and are complete. There are no tire burn marks on any of the plastic. Includes decals and instructions. The decals are in amazing 'near mint+' condition and the instructions are 'near mint.' This kit can make one of three versions listed - factory-stock two door hardtop, a high rise with a turbo-charged 454, wide oval tires, mag wheels and slicks, or a very wild 'spoof' version. Features detailed complete engine, engine compartment, opening hood, full interior, rotating wheels, exhaust and underside detail. Molded in red, clear, red tinted clear, and chrome. With real rubber tires. NOTE: this kit must be shipped double-boxed and insured.
