Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Rare. In the late 1950s Strombecker made their first two all plastic car kits - T-1 1909 Hupmobile and this 1902 Rambler. This was an superb kit for that time - finely molded with very good detail. Features engine and flywheel, full suspension and exhaust, fuel tank and more. Molded in dark green (car and details) and red (wheels). The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. It even includes the excellent interior printed cardboard presentation insert.

Very rare, especially in this condition. The white parts are still in the factory sealed bag. The clear, red-tinted clear and chrome parts were never factory sealed but are 100% complete with 'excellent' chrome. The black soap box derby car was never factory sealed but is complete with all parts still on the trees. Includes separate instructions for the racer, instructions for the '69 SS396 Chevelle El Camino and 'near mint' condition decals. It would be hard to find a better example. Monogram Midget Racer - The First Monogram Plastic Kit, 1/24, P1

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

Although this is the first Monogram plastic kit, it is the second issue of this kit from later in 1954 (read below). In the late 1940s/early 1950s, Monogram began to use injection molded details in the famous Speedee-Bilt and SuperKit aircraft models. The parts chosen for injection molding were generally difficult to carve from wood. From this experience, Monogram was ready to embark on all-plastic models. The first effort was kit number P-1 (for plastic kit #1) in 1954, the 1/24 scale Midget Racer. The box is the correct hardbox dated 1954. The advertising on the outside is unique and is used to promote this new type of model and the ease of assembly. The kit and sub-assemblies are pictured and named on the sides. This box has excellent color and gloss, solid side corners, no price tags or tape but suffers average general wear including creases, heavy corner wear at the left and right top, and general soiling as shown. The box bottom is intact with four solid original corners, but one long seam has split. Inside, the kit is molded in the correct red plastic. The parts are still slightly flexible and have much less than the typical warping - so this was an unusually stable batch of acetate that was correctly molded. The instructions are correctly labeled P-1 and are near mint. As mentioned before, this is a second issue because the kit has decals and the modified instructions showing the decals. (The first issue has no decals and the instructions do not show them. Kit P-2 is the same way). The decals are also labeled P-1 and are in 'excellent' condition with the usual yellowing and a slight curve. The correct die-cut windshield is included as well as a Monogram mini-catalog correctly showing the only 8 all-plastic kits available at that date, all all with 'P' kit numbers (no 'PC' or 'PA'). The kit has never been started and is inventoried 100% complete. A great piece for the advanced collector.

Monogram Republic F-105D Thunderchief - Blue Box Issue, 1/72, PA149-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Second issue dated 1966. Nice quality kit from the older, modified 'Four Star' molds (see below). Includes drop tanks, bombs, opening canopy, pilot figure, ground crewman and boarding ladder. Molded in green, light gray and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals. NOTE: instructions are missing, so I have included the exploded parts diagram from the Four Star kit. There are differences, but you can easily built the kit from this. This is a fine time to outline the mold changes that Monogram made. The Four Star issue was much closer to the very early or prototype aircraft. For the 'Blue Box' issue Monogram did a very nice upgrade. The two rear-vision windows behind the cockpit were removed, the 'spring' for the ejecting pilot was left out, the revolving bomb bay and nuclear bomb was replaced with the new fuselage, two supersonic drop tanks and external bombs. The kit was molded in two colors and had new decals, both of which reflected the bombing role in South East Asia.
