AMT Chrysler Imperial Western Pickup Truck, 1/25, T148-150

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Very rare. I believe the base vehicle is a '65 Imperial and this was an Alexander Brothers custom job - but that is just conjecture. Monogram Boeing B-52D Stratofortress with Jet Sound - Factory Sealed, 1/72, PA215

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+++

Exceptional 1968 first issue in wonderful condition. The box is straight and square with perfect color and gloss, no fading and no price tags. The only flaws are minor light wear as shown and one closed split on a corner. Inside, this kit is still factory sealed. Monogram only sealed this kit from the inside by gluing on the yellow cardboard and clear cello. It was intended for the potential buyer to lift off the box top where they would be greeted with a beautiful display of Monogram workmanship and model design neatly displayed on a cardboard background. All internals are still mint and you can see. Contains 207 parts. Very nicely detailed. Features crew of three, detailed cockpit, elevating and traversing rear turret, opening and closing bomb bay doors, operating wing flaps, operating spoilers, optional position entry hatch and landing gear, and optional parts to display one nacelle open to show the jet engine.

Fujimi A-1H or AD-6 Douglas Skyraider, 1/70, FH-3-129

Still factory sealed. This is a Mokei issue, from the mid/late 1960s. Very finely molded and has an extensive underwing loadout. Includes decals for VA-145 US Navy and the very colorful red and gray Marine AES-12 as well as a nice color painting guide (on the bottom of the box).

Aurora Convair 880 Delta, 1/103, 383-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Still mint in the factory seal. Rare 1960 Delta Airlines issue. The Convair 880 and it's near sister 990 were very high performance airliners. Unfortunately they did not find favor with commercial operators. Only 65 880s were produced from 1959 to 1962. The aircraft was designed to be smaller and faster than the DC-8 and 707 - this market did not develop, however, and if it did it could have been served with less expensive designs.

Revell Douglas DC-8 Jet Mainliner United - Commercial Jet Series - Kikoler Issue, 1/143, H242

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc++

Mid 1960s release that is still factory sealed. The seal is brittle and has split. Revell-Kikoler Brazil issue that uses the same molds as the very popular 1955-1959 'S' issue. Well detailed for that time and has many special features - four detailed engines with removable cowls, rotating wheels, optional position cabin doors and a passenger loading ramp. Includes colorful and extensive United Airlines decals.

Comet Struct-O-Speed Prefabricated Curtiss Robin Flying Aircraft, 2306-100

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

Still factory sealed. Comet would advertise that the Struct-O-Speed series 'Puts Itself Together...That Quick!' on the box top, and it was not a completely idle boast. These kits were very highly prefabricated for their time, and in comparison to the regular stick and tissue models, the claim is not unfounded. Kit features die cut wood, formed and finished wheels, prop, rubber motor and detailed instructions with flying tips. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.
