The Dolphin was the development of the Sinbad flying boat of the 1030s. Initially designed as a civil transport, the US Coast Guard quickly saw the potential and used it as a flying lifeboat. The Army used Dolphins under the designations OA-3, OA-4, C-26 and C-29. The Navy and Marines designated them RD-1 through RD-4 and used them as VIP transports. The very first presidential carrier was a Dolphin for Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the Dolphin was the very first Douglas commercial transport as well. Very high quality vac kit with full interior with metal details. Quality is as good or better than most injection molded kits. Includes decals for three aircraft including FDR's transport. Complete and never started.
