Jim Shirley Productions USS Arsenal Ship / SC-21, 1/700, JSP029

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

The Arsenal Ship was (and is) a fantastic concept with 500 or more VLS tubes and a length of up to 800 feet. Such a ship could be used to inflict sever losses on enemy ground units during mass operations much faster than aircraft could, and would of course be a huge asset in attacking any larger, well defended surface force. This is an excellent model done in high definition resin and measuring almost 14 inches long when assembled. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions.

Airfix HMS Ark Royal Aircraft Carrier - World War II - T4 Issue, 1/600, 04208-4

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Sold

Still factory sealed and from the late 1970s/early 1980s. It is perhaps the best injection-molded Ark Royal kit. Full hull model is very nicely detailed and includes aircraft. This aircraft carrier was the third vessel of the Royal Navy to be named Ark Royal - the first ship took part in the defeat of the Spanish Armada, and the second was being constructed as a tanker when the Royal Navy took it over and converted it to become the first seaplane carrier. The Ark Royal III was launched in April 13, 1937 and was very active during WWII. She was reported sunk several times by German sources. She took part in the defense of Norway. In October of that year, she and Renown went to the South Atlantic to hunt for the Graf Spee. Later her Skuas took part in a gallant but failed attack the Scharnhorst. She then moved to Gibraltar with Force H. In May of 1941, she took part in the search for the Bismarck. Her Swordfish torpedo aircraft scored two hits, one of which jammed the rudders of the German Battleship while she was in a tight turn. This hit sealed the fate of Bismarck, and she was sunk. If this hit would not have occurred, she would have made safe haven at Brest. In November of 1941, the Ark Royal was working the dangerous escort of Malta convoys when she was struck by a torpedo from U-81. Despite all attempts to save her, she went down. Only one sailor lost his life.

Includes plans and instructions. The Victory Ships were designed to replace the Liberty ships of WWII. 531 were ultimately built. They were larger, more powerful, faster, longer ranged and made their appearance in 1944. Steaming at 15 to 17 knots allowed them to be much more effective at evading U-boats. Bandai M60A1 Patton Medium Tank Motorized, 1/24, 4260-2000

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Very rare. NOTE: builder kit only. Please read very carefully, is sold 'as is.' Very large and highly detailed kit with dual RE-26 motorized drive through an all-metal gearbox. Excellent detail and loaded with working features including working suspension, rotating turret and elevating gun, flexible tubing and wiring, working hatches and rear doors, metal antennas, rotating machine gun turret and elevating machine gun, treads built one link at a time and more. This kit has been inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. NOTE: this kit has assembly, some very neat and some only 'fair.' Of the 21 assembly steps, steps 1 through 6 are done and part of step 7. I will describe them with the quality of assembly: Step one, installation of pinions to RE-26 motors and motors to gear box; 'professional' quality assembly; also assembly of bogie wheels & axles, with 'excellent' quality, all wheels rotate freely and only trace amounts of visible glue. Step 2, idler wheel assemblies, also 'excellent' quality and all works properly. Step 3, installing axles and wheels into the lower hull - 'excellent' quality and all suspension is correctly installed and works properly. The idler wheel axle support on one side is installed correctly but there is a significant amount of visible glue. Not enough to damage the plastic, but certainly enough to see and only of 'fair to good' quality due to that. The support for the other side has not been installed. Step 4 is installation of the drive gear and motors to the hull and the drive wheels; quality is "excellent++" and done correctly. Step 5 is putting some larger details on the top of the hull. Quality here varies; there are no gaps but there is visible glue. Not enough to warp or deform the plastic, but enough to see. Step 6 is assembly of the infra-red box; this is only 'fair' with one small gap but visible glue just like step 5. Part of step 7 is done; the gun barrel halves are assembled to the elevating drum; quality is 'good++' with no gaps but light glue showing. Also, the treads are assembled; they flex properly and quality is 'professional.' There is no other assembly beyond what is listed and zero painting. The wire basket on the back of the turret has not been built, but has a few breaks; but all parts are included.
