1/32  #C291-60  Pyro
Chevrolet 1932 Cabriolet
VG   Injection Molded   old
$38

Late 1960s Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. This model is very nicely molded with very good detail featuring full underside and chassis, spoked wheels and complete interior. Molded in dark green and clear. The box states that it can be converted to a 'road racing' or slot car. Never started. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions.

Admiral Graf Spee Pocket Battleship
Sealed Mint   Injection Molded   old
$110

Factory sealed kit in investment grade condition. Hardbox is dated 1962, but the kit issues is likely from around 1964 due to the '130' price extension on the part number and the lack of 'Famous Fighters' and sunburst in the oval logo.

$95

1962 hardbox issue in investment-grade 'Mint' condition. The box has perfect color and gloss and four solid corners. There is no tape, price tags, or tag/tape marks, stains, etc. Molded in the correct high gloss black plastic. This kit has never been started.   Comet
Frigate USS Constitution - Wooden Ship Kit
Poor++   Wood   old
$39

Very rare kit from the early 1930s. All wood construction kit features bread-and-butter hull, printwood and required wooden stock. Includes full size plans/instructions. The kit has not been started and is complete with all parts and plans. Please note that the plans and box are very fragile. The plans are about 95% complete but heavy taped on the back. The majority of the damage is small missing sections of the outer boarder. Comet, founded in 1929, was a famous manufacture of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the 'Dime Scale' kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

1/8  #473-98  Aurora
The Black Knight of Nurnberg
NM   Injection Molded   old
$85

Classic and very popular Aurora USA knight kit from the original molds. This example is from the 1963 release. The box is in exceptional 'near mint' condition. The only flaw is light corner wear - the box is also free of all tape and price tags as well as tape and tag marks. Large 1/8 scale kit is molded gloss black and has the original white plume. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts, plume and excellent instructions. In the mid 1950s, Aurora bought three 'Knight' molds from Crown Plastics and issued them as K1, K2 and K3. These were the very first Aurora figure kits and they sported the 1956-only rectangular 'Northern Lights' logo with the correct 'Crown Line' logo inside it. The sales success of the Knight prompted Aurora to launch an entire line of figure kits. The knights themselves stayed in production long after many other figures were discontinued.

1/48  #K505-98  Miniature Masterpieces
Covered Wagon with Two Longhorn Oxen / Horse and Pioneer Family
Exc++++   Injection Molded   old
$75

Rare 1954 original issue. The box is 'excellent++++' quality. Color and gloss are as new with edge and corner wear as the only flaws. Molded in dark wood brown. Like all Miniature Masterpieces kits, this one is very finely engraved and molded with excellent detail. The model includes detailed instructions, a rarity in the early 1950s. The kit has never been started. Inside it is like new with all parts still sealed in the factory 'krinkle' bag. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lou Glasser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although having the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. However, there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954, making the one-year original issues very rare.
1/32  #H47-89  Revell
1904 Nash Rambler - Highway Pioneers
VG   Injection Molded   old
$48

1953 issue, the first year for the 'Series Three' Highway Pioneers. The box is very good as shown in the photo, and inside has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes the instructions in excellent condition. Molded in bright yellow acetate plastic. Before the 1950s 'model building' as a hobby did not even make the top 10 list of boy’s activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland ‘Highway Pioneers’ car kits was a significant mover in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. They could be built in an hour after dinner and looked like the real car. The 'Highway Pioneers' series helped lead to the production of other subjects in plastic. The effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, 'model building' was the # 1 past time of American boys.
1/32  #H54-89  Revell
1913 Mercedes Highway Pioneers
VG   Injection Molded   old
$44

1953 early issue molded in dark green plastic. This is from the issues produced with Gowland & Gowland as it carrier their 'balloon' logo on the side. The model has not been started. NOTE: missing two headlight lenses. Inventoried with all other parts with instructions. These two parts were green; I have included enough clear material to duplicate for realistic lenses. Before the 1950s 'model building' as a hobby did not even make the top 10 list of boy’s activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream.
