Comet Heinkel He-111German Bomber Official Identification Kit - 'Build For Victory', 1/72, IA-15

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

A very rare kit and even more so in this condition. From about 1941/42. This model is 'Identical to the one used in the Model Building Program of the US Office of Education sponsored by the US Navy, Bureau of Aeronautics' which was a program launched in 1941. During WWII the higher speed of aircraft made the traditional WW1 'recognition cards' nearly useless and 3D models were needed. The US Armed Forces looked to the general population to produce recognition models. While not fully successful due to irregular quality and supply, it quickly paved the way for superior injection molded recognition models. This kit features wood blocks, sheets and stock, glue, sandpaper, an excellent, very thick paper template, outline and gauge sheet as well as fold-out full size plans with aircraft history and detailed carving and building instructions. Never started and complete.

Sterling Stinson SR-8 Reliant Gull Wing - 31 inch Wingspan for R/C, 1/16, E8

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair++

Sold

Big scale kit with a 31 3/8 inch wingspan. Designed for RC, CO2, free flight, control line or non-flying detailed scale kit. Although the box has wear, the kit is like new inside. It has never been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag, and all parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. With 'excellent' condition decal and large, detailed plan set with instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they featured color decals, high-grade die cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, plastic wheels (if required), finished wire landing gear, rubber motor and plastic prop, full size plans with instruction details and full instructions for conversion to RC or control line.

Never started. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one part, the vacuform canopy. Otherwise includes all other parts, decals and plans. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag. NOTE: decals have a stain on two 'stars and bars' decals. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.
