It's rare to find any kit of the Cessna 140; this may be the only one ever made. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. They lead the low-priced kit revolution in the 1930s with their famous adds in Model Airplane News. Comet reached it's peak when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg, who had made a name for himself with famous designs that won the Nationals during the 30s and articles in Model Airplane News. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Sales sagged after WWII as they did for all balsa kit manufacturers but Comet survived till bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998. When sales sagged again in the 1960s, Comet's response was the easier to build Struct-O-Speed series with a significant amount of prefabrication that dramatically reduced assembly time. Light and well designed, these kits flew well. Kit features balsa sheet construction, detailed full size plans, building instructions, hardware, wheels and canopy material (if required), tissue and propeller. The model has not been started. 1989 issue of this hard-to-find kit. The Olds Aerotech was driven by AJ Foyt to a closed-course world record with a top speed of 278.357 miles per hour. The kit can build either the 'short tail' version or the 'long tail' dual turbo version. Very nicely detailed with full engine compartment with flexible ignition wire and hoses and full interior. Molded in chrome, silver and clear with black rubber tires. NOTE: kit has minor assembly. Two floor pans and the top engine cowl have been glued. No other assembly. Quality of assembly is good. Inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

This model depicts a junk built by USA and South Viet Nam naval officers. These junks were used for Coastal Surveillance and patrol. Heavily armed, there were ideal for inspection and interdiction duty.

Hard-to-find kit of this historic ship. Very rare early USA issue 1960s hardbox in excellent condition. Includes framable John Steel boxart Measures 22.25 inches long when built. The Great Eastern (originally Leviathan) was the work of English Designer I.K. Brunel. In the 1850s there was a need for large ocean liners to carry the immigrant trade, but none existed. Shipping companies also wanted the interiors of ocean liners to look like hotels, but there simply no space. This ship was to solve that problem. She was launched in 1857 and five times bigger than any other ship of the day! The 22,500 ton Great Eastern was 693 feet long and carried 4000 passenger. Unfortunately, her career was one mishap after another until she found fame by laying the trans-Atlantic cable. Very nicely detailed model. Never started.
