Sterling Zero A6M3 Model 32 Hamp - 24 inch Wingspan for Free Flight or R/C - Drops Belly Tank in Flight, A15-398

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

24 inch wingspan kit for RC, free flight or control line. Includes innovative system for automatically dropping the centerline belly tank in flight, color decals, high-grade die-cut balsa, vacuform plastic detail parts, clear vacuform canopy, plastic wheels, finished wire landing gear, rubber motor and plastic prop, full size plans with instruction details and notes on RC or control line conversion. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they were very complete.

Lindberg Monitor and Merrimac with Diorama Seascape Base, 70886

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Very nice package with both kits, a full color poster of the battle from the original Ray Gaedke box art done in the 1950s, a nice brochure with an illustrated history of the battle, paints and brush, blue plastic seascape battle display base and full decals. Merrimac measures just shy of 13 inches long and the Monitor measures 8.25 inches long. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. These are the two American Civil war ships that spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the James River. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862.
