Revell American Firefighters Chemical and Ladder, 1/48, F201-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

American Firefighters Chemical and Ladder

$65

First Revell issue dated 1953 with a wonderful hardbox illustration. Features well molded wagon with equipment, real metal chain, horses with material for harnesses, dog and fireman. The kit has not been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions present. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters (Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel) in 1952. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This issue is from when Revell still had the marketing agreement, as it says 'Trade Mark Copyright 1953 Marlin Toy Co. Inc' on the box top and 'Collector's Kits, Inc, Closter, N.J.' on the side.

The Hunter was the standard RAF fighter during the 1950s. it quickly replaced the Meteor and Venom as it was superior in every way to the first generation jets. During the 1960s, the English Electric Lightning was successfully introduced and the Hunter transitioned into a fighter-bomber role and even aerial reconnaissance. Two-seat variants remained in use for training and secondary roles with the RAF and the Royal Navy until the early 1990s. The Hunter was so successful that almost 2,000 were produced and it saw service in 21 foreign air forces worldwide. Sixty years after its original introduction it was still in active service, being operated by the Lebanese Air Force until 2014.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

USS Pennsylvania Battleship BB-38 - Sea Power Issue

$78

Hard-to-find hardbox model that is dated 1961. Sister ship of the Arizona, the USS Pennsylvania completed WWII with an enviable record. This full-hull model is very well molded and detailed for that time and can be superbly super-detailed with the Gold Medal Model PE detail set. The kit has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts present including decals, color flag sheet and instructions. The Pennsylvania was in dry-dock during the December 7th Pearl Harbor attack and survived with minimal damage. She was rebuilt and saw significant action in the Pacific in WWII, steaming over 150,000 miles from 1941 to 1945. It is thought that she may have fired more ammunition than any ship in history. She never once reported 'Not Ready' for any operation or need. After being used as a nuclear test ship at Bikini, she was towed to Kwajalein and sunk.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Dornier Do X Flying Boat - (Do-X)

$65

This famous German Flying Boat was built in 1929. Dornier dreamed that this huge aircraft would become a trans-oceanic airliner with passengers traveling in ocean liner-like luxury. A tour of South and North American was conducted, but orders never materialized due to excessive fuel consumption and a lack of power. Total load was 170 passengers and crew, and the 12 engines developed 7200 HP. This is a very nicely detailed model with 121 pieces. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

Revell British Canberra Whip-Fly, 1/81, H157-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

British Canberra Whip-Fly

$75

Rare hardbox kit from 1961 has fantastic artwork of an RAF Canberra flying over 'The Rock'. Based on the 1950s B-57 "S" kit, the Whip-Fly Canberra comes with RAF decals, flight ballast, control handle, 12 feet of control line, control ring, colorful streamers for the jet engines and a underside pod which is a in-flight whistle! Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions included. The box would grade slightly higher than 'excellent' but it rated as such because there is residue from old tape on the two long sides. Included in the famous 'Whip Fly' series are the H151 F9F-8 Cougar, H152 F-84F, H153 F-89D Scorpion, H154 F8U-1 Crusader, H155 F-39 Airacobra and H156 F-101A Voodoo. Although not listed yet, there was also a Whip-Fly Canberra, F-106 and Yak-25 Flashlight. The Whip-Fly series seemed like a good idea...at first. Revell quickly realized that spinning heavily-ballasted, sharp objects at dizzying speeds in or outside the home around groups of children was not the best idea. The series was quickly discontinued.
