These issues feature the same 5 car artwork on every box; the only way to identify the contents was an ink-stamped name on the box ends. Molded in gloss dark green plastic. This kit has never been started. All parts are still in the factory sealed bag. Includes instructions. These kits have a fascinating history. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream and never made the top 10 list of boys activities. Spurred on by the nation-wide aviation craze in the 1920s, many became modelers and built flying or static wooden models of airplanes, ships, trains, automotive and other subjects. Basic kits existed, but many of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s when the Gowland & Gowland/Revell Highway Pioneers became the sales sensation of the year. Demand was so great that the factories could not keep up and almost overnight 'model building' was mainstream. The phenomenon of the 'Highway Pioneers' kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles fit the bill: they could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real cars. The success of the Highway Pioneers lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the late 1950s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys...and many adult males too!

Inside, the airplane is from the original 1950s 'S' molds and even has the original decal artwork for The Flying Dragon. Rare 1976 Revell Japan hardbox issue with unique box art. This fine model features all parts and markings to make P1Y1, P1Y1a, P1Y2 and PI2-S variants, full interior detail, complete twin-row engines, optional position landing gear, open or closed bomb bay with different bomb or torpedo loads and more. NOTE: this kit has minor, 'professional' quality subassembly as follows: upper floor, seats and instrument panels to the main floor. There is no other assembly. Inventoried and NOTE: missing (1) #17 propeller retainer; does not show when assembled and very easy to fabricate from flat plastic. 1954 Pre-S release. The Pre-S and S kits are considered the apex of model kit box art and it is easy to see why these kits are so desired and collectible. Molded in the original gloss silver and clear and includes the clear 'Revelving Swivel Base' display stand. Inside, everything is exactly as it left the factory. The small parts are still in the original sealed bag and the larger parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions both in 'excellent+' condition. The box would grade higher than 'very good+' but there is one tiny closed pencil-point sized hole at the far right (lower) side and two same size closed holes on the short right panel.

1954 Pre-'S' release and among Revell's very earliest ship models. This issue is the 'all gun' version of the Fletcher with the maximum main armament; Revell soon modified the molds to represent the later ships of the class. The beautiful boxart has wear as shown. The kit has never been started. Inventoried and it includes all plastic parts, color flag sheet and instructions. NOTE: the small 'Parts Order Form' has been cut from the instructions. Very rare 1963 kit which is the second and last issue. The artwork is the same as the 'S' kit but the box artwork on the sides is different. Features 3 removable Hawk missiles, 4 man crew, elevating and swiveling launcher, rotating rubber tires, control panel with opening hatches, separate radar scope equipment and more. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The box has excellent color and gloss but has the price tag pull shown at the upper right. The pull extends down a very small amount (1/2" x 1/4") on the right short side as well.

Hard-to-find model in investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition. This is the rarer final issue from 1963 and not the "S" issue. For this release, the original box art was retained and the part number and name were changed, while the side panels show Revell's then-new series of 1/72 scale WWII aircraft. Note that the this kit is called 'Tactical Rockets' instead of the original 'Tactical Missiles'. These models are well detailed. The Dart includes four missiles, one launcher, three stands, decals, one optical guidance unit and a crew of three. The Little John includes a detailed launcher with elevating rails, movable support legs,decals and crew of three. Molded in dark olive drab and white plastic. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Little John was a light-weight free-flight rocket that was highly mobile. It could be pulled on it's launcher or transported by helicopter. Length was 12 feet long and the warhead was atomic. The Dart was a very early 5-foot long wire guided anti-tank missile with a solid propellant rocket motor. An optical rangefinder was used for guidance.

Still factory sealed. 1994 re-release of the 1982 release- which itself is from the very popular 1960s original molds. Has many operational features including the V-2 missile with removable panel with full interior including fuel tanks, rocket engine and more, working launcher and transport trailer/erector and crew members. Please note that Revell lists this kit as 1/54 but I have noted it as 1/69 because the built missile measures 8" tall and the actual missile is 45.9 feet tall. That comes out to be 1/69. I don't usually correct listings for scale, but in this rare case I did.

The box has perfect color and gloss The only things keeping it from being mint is very slight and isolated wear. Includes the famous clear Revell 'Globe' stand. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Instructions are in 'excellent+' condition and the decals are 'near mint.'
