Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc++
$149
Rare 1958 first issue with the box art that made these kits so famous and collectible. This one is in 'excellent++' condition with perfect gloss and color, four solid corners, no repairs, no tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks (except the factory sealing tape of course), no fading, creases or stains and no torn or missing litho. Flaws include light edge wear and corner wear as shown. Large-scale kit is very well molded for that time and features fine surface detail, moving flaps, ailerons, elevators and rudder and features a full crew. Never started. It has been inventoried 100% complete. Decals and instructions are both in incredible 'Near Mint+' condition. Please NOTE that the vertical stabilizer tips on this kit were incredibly thin and fragile and often the tips (about 3 to 4mm) would break off in shipping. This kit is no exception, but both tips are present and fit back perfectly.

Rare original hardbox issue from 1958; not the common 1995 softbox reissue. Aurora had set the bar high for early armor kits; Revell had to better that and they did. This model features fine surface detail, flexible working treads, rotating turret, elevating gun, optional position hatches, four troops and more. Molded in the correct gloss deep green and with silver flexible tracks. Never started. All parts, decals and instructions have been inventoried 100% complete and are correct for this early issue. The box top has factory-new color and gloss, four solid corners and no repairs. The flaws are corner wear on the left as shown, a very light price tag pull on the left short side and a 3/4" x 3/4" factory tape pull on the long lower side. The original store neatly marked out the '129' price extension on both short side panels and wrote a very small '70' cents next to it.

1954 original issue of the famous Highway Pioneers 'Foreign Car' series. These issues feature the same 5 car artwork on every box; the only way to identify the contents was an ink-stamped name on the box ends. Molded in gloss dark green plastic. This kit has never been started. All parts are still in the factory sealed bag. Includes instructions. These kits have a fascinating history. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream and never made the top 10 list of boys activities. Spurred on by the nation-wide aviation craze in the 1920s, many became modelers and built flying or static wooden models of airplanes, ships, trains, automotive and other subjects. Basic kits existed, but many of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s when the Gowland & Gowland/Revell Highway Pioneers became the sales sensation of the year. Demand was so great that the factories could not keep up and almost overnight 'model building' was mainstream. The phenomenon of the 'Highway Pioneers' kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles fit the bill: they could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real cars. The success of the Highway Pioneers lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the late 1950s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys...and many adult males too!
