1960 issue hardbox with full artwork; Highway Pioneers prior to this year simply had generic artwork and an ink stamped name on the box ends was the only way to identify the contents. This kit has never been started. All parts are still sealed in the factory bag. Includes instructions. The box would rate slightly higher than 'very good' but there is age foxing on the box side panels. These kits have a fascinating history. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream and never made the top 10 list of boys activities. Spurred on by the nation-wide aviation craze in the 1920s, many became modelers and built flying or static wooden models of airplanes, ships, trains, automotive and other subjects. Basic kits existed, but many of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s when the Gowland & Gowland/Revell Highway Pioneers became the sales sensation of the year. Demand was so great that the factories could not keep up and almost overnight 'model building' was mainstream. The phenomenon of the 'Highway Pioneers' kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles fit the bill: they could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real cars. The success of the Highway Pioneers lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the late 1950s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys...and many adult males too!

This Revell 'Classics' reissue is from 2010 and is the final 1960s modification of the 1950s 'S' kit molds - which means it is a Pre-S Cutlass with Sparrow with wing pylons and Sparrow missiles. Rare hardbox kit from 1961 has fantastic artwork of an RAF Canberra flying over 'The Rock'. This example is in amazing investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition with factory new color and gloss, four solid and original corners, no repairs, no fading, creasing or tears, no price tags or tag marks and no tape or tape marks at all. The only flaws are very light wear as hown on the box top. Based on the 1950s B-57 "S" kit, the Whip-Fly Canberra comes with RAF decals, flight ballast, control handle, 12 feet of control line, control ring, colorful streamers for the jet engines and a underside pod which is a in-flight whistle! Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions included. Included in the famous 'Whip Fly' series are the H151 F9F-8 Cougar, H152 F-84F, H153 F-89D Scorpion, H154 F8U-1 Crusader, H155 F-39 Airacobra and H156 F-101A Voodoo. Although not listed yet, there was also a Whip-Fly Canberra, F-106 and Yak-25 Flashlight. The Whip-Fly series seemed like a good idea...at first. Revell quickly realized that spinning heavily-ballasted, sharp objects at dizzying speeds in or outside the home near groups of children was not the best idea. The series was quickly discontinued.

Still factory sealed and from 1974. It is a well detailed, large 1/32 scale kit of this British night fighter with airborne interception radar. The Beaufighter was flown by aces such like Flt./Lt. "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham, whose markings are included. His final score stood at 20 victories and his aircraft is depicted in this model. The kit features detailed Bristol Hercules engines, removable cowling, two flight crew, optional position landing gear, full crew cockpits and radar antenna. My friend and model builder Stephen Payne high recommends that the purchaser of any Beaufighter Night Fighter model invests in a copy of the book "Night Fighter" by C.F. Rawnsley. Rawnsley was John Cunningham's Airborne Intercept radar operator throughout WWII in both Beaufighters and Mosquitoes. The book is the story of their time and combat together and makes excellent reading.

Features a detailed, two-stage Aerobee-Hi missile with separating stages, firing arm with working piston and cylinder, trailer with movable wheels & tow bar, detailed crew figures and more. Molded in the correct gloss gray and white. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals and instructions are both flat and in 'excellent+' condition. The actual top of the box (the section shown in the photo) is in 'near mint+' condition; however, the overall box is graded 'excellent++' because there there is residue from two short pieces of non-factory tape at the center of both long sides and edge wear on the lower side edges.

1954 Pre-S hardbox second issue. The box has factory-new color and gloss, four solid original corners, no price tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks (other than the original factory tape) and no fading, stains or tears. It does have a crease at the upper right corner as shown and it continues down the right short side panel. In the box, this is the second issue of this classic kit and has the correct 4 piece stand (base, arm, arm clamp and metal ring) and revised instructions. Molded in the correct silver and clear. Never started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The small parts are still in the clear factory sealed bag. The large parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Both instructions and decals are in 'excellent++' condition with the normal age yellowing as the only significant flaws.

1954/55 Pre-S issue with the fantastic artwork of a DC-7 at the moment just before touchdown. The box is in brilliant, investment grade 'Near Mint' condition with perfect color and gloss. Please note, this is the true first issue with the one-piece plastic stand arm and instructions that illustrate this. The one-piece stand arm was fragile and broke easily; Very few were made as Revell quickly corrected this weakness. The second issues has two plastic parts on the stand arm. Correctly molded in gloss silver and clear and a large, colorful decal sheet. Inside, the kit is factory new. All small parts are still sealed in the factory bag, while the larger parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions. Instructions are 'Near Mint++' condition with the detailed American Airlines route map on the back. Decals are perfectly flat, 100% intact and in 'excellent' condition with the typical yellowing as the only flaw.
