  Monogram Model Kits for sale

Monogram logoThe name Monogram is widely recognized for its high-quality model kits. Founders Jack Besser and Bob Reder had a distinct vision of what makes a model kit exceptional and how to effectively bring that vision to mass production. It's no surprise that Monogram operated efficiently and remained profitable for many years. Initially focusing on aircraft models, Monogram capitalized on the post-World War II interest in aviation, quickly gaining recognition for its attention to detail and innovative designs. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Monogram expanded its offerings to include a diverse range of subjects, such as classic cars, military vehicles, ships, and even science fiction models. This expansion solidified Monogram's reputation as a leading manufacturer in the model kit industry, with iconic kits like the Monogram 1/48 scale B-17 Flying Fortress showcasing the company's commitment to quality and accuracy.

This is a fine time to outline the mold changes that Monogram made on their Thud model. The Four Star issue was much closer to the very early or prototype aircraft. For the 'Blue Box' issue Monogram did a very nice upgrade. The two rear-vision windows behind the cockpit were removed, the 'spring' for the ejecting pilot was deleted, the revolving bomb bay and nuclear bomb was replaced with the new fuselage and two supersonic drop tanks and external bombs were added. The kit is molded in two colors (dark green and sky gray) and had new decals; both of which reflected the bombing role in South East Asia. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
