Revell Battleship USS Arizona 'S' Issue, 1/426, H348-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Battleship USS Arizona 'S' Issue

$89

Rare true first issue of one of Revell's finest ship models. Dated 1957 and has the "S" Cement adds on all four box sides. Features stunning artwork and great detail including full hull, complete propeller & rudder detail, transversing main turrets, elevating main guns, secondary guns, complete and detailed superstructure, all deck fittings and more. Includes color flags & decals and instructions. Never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals, color flagsheet and paperwork present. NOTE: the box is only graded 'very good' because there are litho chips on the lower long side as shown in the photo. Also, two corners have expertly repaired closed splits; the work was done correctly from the inside with light cardstock and book binding glue. Toms and GMM have excellent PE detail sets designed for this model. This kit played a major roll in fund-raising for the USS Arizona memorial and Revell donated a sizable amount to the construction.

Revell USS Norton Sound Rocket Launcher Missile Test Ship, 1/424, H331-169

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

USS Norton Sound Rocket Launcher Missile Test Ship

$425

Very rare kit from 1956; the molds were altered to make the class seaplane tender, which made any reissue impossible. The box has wonderful color and gloss, four solid corners, no creases, no fading, rips or tears, no stains, no price tag or tag marks and no tape or tape marks - this box even escaped the factory tape sealing machine! There is light general wear, very light edge wear and corner wear at the lower left as shown. The prototype Norton Sound was originally a seaplane tender and was converted to an ocean-going laboratory for development and testing of guided missiles and rockets. This ship was key in the Navy's move into the guided missile age. The model features working cranes, operating launching platform for the Viking missile, Terrier with launcher, Jeeps and Lark missile. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The small parts and decals are still factory sealed in the Revell clear bag. The larger parts were never sealed and are inventoried complete. Includes color flag sheet, decals and instructions. Instructions are in 'near mint' condition with typical age yellowing as the only flaw. Decals are still factory sealed and also grade 'near mint'.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

HMS Victory - Lord Nelson's Flagship

$149

Easily the ultimate HMS Victory kit and widely acknowledged as one of the finest injection molded sailing warship models ever made. Very highly detailed with 2107 parts and measures over 43 inches long when assembled. There is no assembly. Most parts are still in the factory sealed bags. A few bags were worn, so I opened those and inventoried them complete. The large parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. Includes color flags and full instructions. NOTE: the largest parts of the hull have been very neatly airbrushed black. The hull halves are also painted copper below the waterline and airbrushed the correct three yellow stripes across the gun ports as shown on the box art. Revell George Washington SSBN-598 Nuclear Powered Polaris Missile Submarine 'S' Issue, 1/261, H365-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

George Washington SSBN-598 Nuclear Powered Polaris Missile Submarine 'S' Issue

$189

Rare, first issue dated 1958 with "S" cement logos on the box sides. This is the cut-away Polaris sub with interior that got Revell in hot water with the US Government - the Navy had thought that Revell had breeched security to obtain the details for the model. This one is in exceptional condition with perfect color and gloss, for solid corners with no repairs, no price tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks other than the factory tape marks and no fading. The only flaws are some scuffs (top center) and a slight, short crease at the upper left plus very light isolated wear. The model was highly detailed for that time will full interior and snap-off starboard hull half and two Polaris missiles that 'fire' using spring power. The kit has never been started. Molded in the correct gloss medium gray, light green and black plastic. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions as well as the special booklet 'The Story of Undersea Nuclear Navy.' The decals and instructions are both in 'near mint' condition.

Lindberg Monitor and Merrimac Civil War Ironclads - (ex Pyro), 718

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Monitor and Merrimac Civil War Ironclads - (ex Pyro)

$69

1986 issue from the original, quality Pyro molds. These are considered more accurate than the Lindberg models of the same subject. Both models have never been started. All parts are still in the the two internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. These two American Civil War ships spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the James River. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862.

Aurora Wheeler Cruiser Sports Fishing Yacht, 1/43, 444-500

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Wheeler Cruiser Sports Fishing Yacht

$325

Very rare kit with great box art by Mort Kunstler. This is the first and probably only issue dated 1967. Aurora did a beautiful job on this model, but it simply did not sell and was discontinued very shortly. The high price of $5 USD and the esoteric subject matter were to blame. This is a large-scale model with excellent detail. Features a one piece hull, complete propeller and rudder detail, one piece main deck, venetian blinds for the larger interior windows, extensive deck fittings which are all separately molded, all hand rails (in chrome), dinghy with interior & oars, spray shields, display stand, 5 figures and much more. The kit has never been started. The blue and white parts are still in the factory sealed bags. The brown and chrome parts are loose and have been inventoried 100% complete. Includes instructions and decals. The chrome plating in in 'as new' condition. This kit must be shipped insured.

Sterling Chris Craft 42' Express Cruiser - Motorized, 1/36, B14-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Chris Craft 42' Express Cruiser - Motorized

$249

Sale Pending
Email for availability.

Very rare, large true-scale model from 1954 and one of the few (probably just two) injection molded plastic ship kits produced by Sterling. For the mid-1950s, this model and it's sister kit, the Chris Craft 21' Cobra, had zero competition. In an age were models were crude, simple and non-operating affairs, these were nothing short of a revelation. This large (~ 13.25' long) model is designed for static display or motorized for free running or radio control. Well detailed and features cleats, chocks, bitts, searchlight, bow running & port & starboard navigation 'lights', vents, mast & yardarm, grab rails, life preservers, horn, anchor, hatches, captain & bathing beauty figures, jack & flag staffs, detailed cockpit with console & instruments, ships wheel, horn ring & clear windshield, all seating, captain & bathing beauty figures, scale propeller, hanger and rudder, drive rudder, hanger & propeller, rudder & drive shaft stuffing boxes, battery box, motor mount, steel shaft, removable cover for motor & battery access and more. Includes a display stand. Molded in beautiful brown swirled, medium aqua blue and white plastic. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, full instructions and color decals. Sterling did not furnish a motor with this kit - it was available separately. While Sterling was incredibly famous for their line of wooden personal sport boat kits, evidently they only made two powered plastic kits - this Chris Craft 42' Express Cruiser and the Chris Craft 21' Cobra. They were also issued as a 'Boat Gift Set' which included both kits. Due to Sterling's deep background in research, detail & operational design, these two kits were in a class by themselves. However, at a time when most model kits sold for between 29 cents and one dollar, the very high cost of $1.98 and $2.98 kept them from being big sellers. Sterling never made any more plastic civil ships but continued to expand the world's finest line of scale model wooden pleasure vessels.

This large (~ 16' long) kit is designed for static display or motorized for free running or radio control. Well detailed and features bitts, bow, port & starboard 'lights', vents, step pads, gas cap, jack & flag staffs, detailed cockpit with instrument panel, shift lever, throttle, steering wheel, horn ring & clear windshield, captain & bathing beauty figures, rudder & drive shaft stuffing boxes, battery box, motor mount, hardware pack (steel shaft, bronze contact strip, U-joint & more), removable rear turtleback for motor & battery access, and more. Includes a stylish clear display stand. Molded in beautiful brown swirled, yellow, white and clear plastic. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, full instructions and color decals, both of which are in 'near mint' condition. Sterling did not furnish a motor with this kit - it was available separately. The Sterling 'Beaver' is recommended and this was a common electric motor, similar to the pre-assembled Lindberg motors issued with their kits. While Sterling was incredibly famous for their line of wooden personal sport boat kits, evidently they only made two powered plastic kits - the Chris Craft 42' Express Cruiser and this Chris Craft 21' Cobra. They were also issued as a 'Boat Gift Set' which included both kits. Due to Sterling's deep background in research, detail & operational design, these two kits were in a class by themselves. Carefully inventoried 100% complete with all plastic parts, black cord for the anchors,, decals, flag sheet, booklet 'The Story of Ships' and instructions. Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

USS Missouri Narrow Box - First Issue Pre 'S' Kit

$125

First release 1953 hardbox pre 'S' kit and the first ship model that Revell cut their own molds for. Earlier Revell ship releases were very small scale sailing shps from ex-Gowland and Gowland molds. It has been said that this kit was so popular for so long that it was Revell's best selling ship model of all time. Inside, the kit is molded in the correct gloss medium gray plastic. It has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including all parts, the original small parts 'krinkle' bag (torn open), flag sheet and instructions. The early style flag sheet is in amazing 'near mint' condition and the instructions are the correct very large format for this issue and in 'excellent' condition.
