Comet Piper Cub - 26 inch Wingspan For Free Flight or R/C Conversion, 3406

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Piper Cub - 26 inch Wingspan For Free Flight or R/C Conversion

$34

Large 26" wingspan flying kit can be powered by rubber, electric and made into RC with today's tiny and lightweight servos and receivers. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction, detailed full size plans, building instructions, hardware, wheels and canopy material (if required), tissue and propeller. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Aurora Curtiss Hawk P-6E, 1/43, 116-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Curtiss Hawk P-6E

$60

Still factory sealed and in superb, investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition. The kit is dated 1958, but this is clearly a later issue as the Aurora logo does not say 'Famous Fighters' in the border and has no sunburst - due to the 130 price extension, it is most likely from 1961 or '62. This was a fine kit for that time and still a favorite 'Classic Builder' today. It features movable rudder, elevators & ailerons, cockpit with pilot, seat, instrument panel, gun sight and feet stirrups, auxiliary gas tank and rotating propeller and wheels. Usually molded in gloss dark green and clear, but I cannot confirm that since it is factory sealed.

Aurora Nieuport II, 1/48, 101-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

Nieuport II

$39

This model is in an investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition box. The only box flaw is very slight wear. Dated 1956, but this is a 1960s issue with the later John Steel artwork and blue oval 'Aurora' logo with no 'Famous Fighters' in the logo. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business.

Aurora N-156 Freedom Fighter - (F-5), 1/48, 140-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

N-156 Freedom Fighter - (F-5)

$89

Second issue hardbox is dated 1962 with fantastic Jo Kotula box artwork. This kit is a very good, rare scale representation of the original prototype N-156 'Freedom Fighter'. It developed into the F-5, which was widely exported and saw service in over 30 countries. Only three of the N-156 prototypes were built. The design centered around two GE J85 turbojets which originally powered the ADM-20 Quail decoy carried by the B-52 fleet. Initially there seemed to be little demand until President Kennedy's Military Assistance Program required a low-cost fighter that could be provided to US Allies. The N-156 was easily the top choice. It was renamed the F-5 and the rest is history - it became one of the most widely used fighter/bombers in post-WWII history and is still in service in some air forces. This kit features a pilot figure, 'good' cockpit, three drop tanks, early AIM-9 Sidewinder Air-to-Air Missiles and more. Includes the famous Aurora clear triangle-based 'world map' stand. Molded in white and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora British SE-5 Scout - White Rectangle Issue, 1/48, 103-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

British SE-5 Scout - White Rectangle Issue

$55

Very rare version and the rarest of all Aurora SE-5s. Note that the rectangular background for the oval 'Famous Fighters' logo is white and not the more common yellow. The two issues are identical other than the background color for the lower-right rectangle. The hardbox is dated 1956 with the original Jim Cox box art but with the 1957 oval 'Famous Fighters' logo. The original rectangle 'Northern Lights'; logo has been neatly blotted out with a white rectangle of the same size. The fact that the price is still 69 cents (as the original issue) means this issue is very late 1956 or very early '57. Molded in gloss olive green and black. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: there is a short tape tear on the lower long side measuring 1/2" x 1/4" and two dark, translucent tape stains (1" x 3/8") on the upper long side.

Aurora Gotha Bomber G-V - Parents Magazine Seal Issue, 1/48, 126-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Gotha Bomber G-V - Parents Magazine Seal Issue

$69

First issue dated 1958 with 'Famous Fighters in the sunburst logo, Parents Magazine seal and classic Jo Kotula artwork. Molded in a stunning gloss deep burgundy and black. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This model is part of a very successful 1/48 scale WWI series that Aurora started in 1956. They sold so well that they introduced new kits almost annually well into the 1960s. Some sold well right up until the end of Aurora in the mid 1970s.

Aurora De Haviland DH-10 Bomber - Playcraft Issue, 1/48, 125

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

De Haviland DH-10 Bomber - Playcraft Issue

$59

SALE!! Rare Aurora Great Britain issue made by Playcraft Toys Ltd, London. Dated 1957 with classic Jo Kotula box art. Although made in England, it is molded in the same glossy dark olive drab, black and clear plastic as the US issue. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box has wear and creasing as shown and a 1cm x 1cm area of pen writing on the left short side panel.

Aurora Spad XIII, 1/48, 107-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Spad XIII

$58

First issue hardbox is dated 1957 with great Jo Kotula artwork. Please note the 69 cent price extension and oval 'Famous Fighters' sunburst logo. This is part of a popular and very successful series of 1/48 scale WWI aircraft that Aurora started in 1956 and added to well into the 1960s. Many of the line were in production right up until the demise of Aurora in the mid 1970s Molded in correct high-gloss olive drab and black plastic. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora The Barnstormers Customizing Kit DH-4 and JN-4 Jenny, 1/48, 200-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

The Barnstormers Customizing Kit DH-4 and JN-4 Jenny

$165

Rare one-and-only 1960 issue that contains both the DH-4 and Curtis JN-4 Jenny. Aurora really went out of the way to make this a special kit; however, it did not sell well and was retired after one year. Features completely new box artwork, a DH-4 molded in gloss dark green and black, the JN-4 molded in gloss bright yellow and black, great custom decal sheets for both aircraft and special 'Barnstormer' instructions for each aircraft. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts present and includes decals and instructions. Instructions are both in 'excellent+' condition and the decal sheets are both completely flat (no rolling) with typical age yellowing as the only flaw.

Aurora Sopwith Camel, 1/47, 102-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sopwith Camel

$48

Rare early 1960s issue and harder to find than the original 1956 release. This was only made for a year or two before the new artwork release. Please note the full, original artwork (the only issue with such) due to the 'transparent' new simplified oval logo at the lower right. The side logos still have the old 'Famous Fighters' in the border. Molded in the correct gloss olive drab and black plastic and with the chock ground base and pilot & mechanic figures. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions.
