Designed as a replacement for the A6M Reisen, the first A7M1 was completed in 1944. The fighter was well armed and had self sealing tank, hydraulically folding wings and a bullet proof windshield. The Navy, however, did not use the recommended engine, so the aircraft was under powered. The revised version with the MK9A was a complete success, but earthquakes, bombing raids and a prototype crash delayed the project till the end of the war. The actual model kit features very fine recessed panel lines, excellent cockpit, printed instrument panel, many brass photoetched details and more. Never started. NOTE: builder kit only, please read carefully for the condition. Famous Aircraft Series hardbox issue is dated 1960 and has frameable box art by Don Wilson. This was the box art that directly followed the "S" issue and this kit is also from the "S" molds. It was injected in the correct blue and clear plastic with yellow Blue Angels decals. There is no assembly but NOTE: minor detailed neatly painted such as die-icing boots, wheels, struts & pilot. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one part, (1) main landing gear door. Otherwise includes all other parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: the canopy is only 'fair' and the decals are peeling. Fresh from old hobby shop stock with a box in 'Excellent++' condition. Somehow this box even escaped the factory sealing tape machine, as it has no sealing tape and no typical stains from the tape. The color and gloss are perfect, as are the corners. The only thing keeping it from grading higher is slight sun fading to the right short side panel. Revell took the excellent original F-104 molds and made this new issue by adding four then-new AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, ground missile trailer and ground crew. Molded in the correct correct gloss silver & clear and with the clear Revell Swivel Stand. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both in 'near mint' condition with very slight yellowing being the only flaw.

Excellent set from 2001 which includes the large 1/426 model of USS Hornet CV-8, a 1/72 B-25B and an excellent book about the raid and aircraft. The Hornet is from the same molds as the original model issues in 1967. It measures over 20 inches long and includes a one piece hull, 16 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, moving cranes, decals and flags. The B-25 is the likely the high quality Italeri kit, but I am not positive. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals, book and instructions.

Very early Tamiya offering with a high-gloss box top and very collectible artwork. Although from the early 1960s, you could see where Tamiya was heading with quality plastic models. Features all very fine raised panel lines, working flaps, rudder and elevator, retractable landing gear, retractable landing gear, three piece canopy and external wing bomb load. The kit is engineered to be motorized and includes all hardware to do so, but Tamiya did not include the motor with the model. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note, one landing gear strut is broken but both parts are present and fit back together perfectly for a straight-forward repair.

Still factory sealed. This rare issue was is directly from the collection of the original owner, who purchased it in the very early 1960s. The Type 2 logo paper header is in 'Excellent' condition. Molded in the correct light gray plastic with a clear canopy & windows and the early, two-piece clear Airfix 'teardrop-base' stand. Airfix's second logo for plastic models is known among collectors as the 'Type Two' or 'T2' logo and was used from the late 1950s into the early 1960s.
