Features traditional wood/tissue construction, quality printwood, stripwood, wire prop shaft, fully formed and finished wood wheels and thrust button, clear canopy material, rubber, tissue, propeller and detailed full size plans with building instructions. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Very rare 1950s second issue. Still includes a factory-sealed, metal tube of Comet cement. The kit features recessed panel detail, clear canopy, detailed engine front and the Comet 'teardrop' shaped display stand. Molded in silver and clear plastic. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both in remarkable "near mint" condition. In the 1950s Comet made a beautiful line of small scale aircraft and missile models with colorful boxes. When Comet went out of business, these molds saw action for years with Aurora who reissued some (but not all) of them.

Rare 29 cent first issue from the mid 1950s in the early one-piece, flip-up lid box. Well molded with recessed panel detail, pilot bust, clear canopy, in-flight configuration and Comet display stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals and instructions are both in 'excellent+++' condition. In the 1950s Comet made a beautiful line of small scale aircraft and missile models with colorful boxes. When Comet sold their plastic kit line in 1963, Aurora eventually reissued many (but not all) of the kits.

First issue hardbox from 1962. This box has, in my opinion, has some of the finest Jack Leynnwood artwork. Jack primarily painted box top art for Revell, but since he was freelance, other companies could and did contract with him as well. At this point, the XB-70 was planned for production, so the kit is called the B-70 and the artwork shows a winter night-time quick turn around of a SAC B-70 while another Valkyrie roars overhead after takeoff. The large model features 6 detailed General Electric J93-3 engines, full landing gear, clear canopy and Aurora's clear triangle-based display stand. Molded in ivory white and clear plastic. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box displays better than the 'good' grade. It is graded as such as there creasing, edge wear, significant general wear and the box tray (bottom) has numerous closed splits and clear tape holding it together. NOTE: missing the 60 cent paperback book.

SALE!! Rare Aurora Great Britain issue made by Playcraft Toys Ltd, London. Dated 1957 with classic Jo Kotula box art. Please note that the Sunburst Logo has "Playcraft Hobby Kits" in the border and not 'Famous Fighters' like the USA issues have. Although made in England, it is molded in the same glossy dark olive drab, black and clear plastic as the US issue. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box has wear and creasing as shown and a 1cm x 1cm area of pen writing on the left short side panel.

1957 first issue in fantastic 'Excellent++' condition. The box has perfect color and gloss and four solid corners. The only flaws are very light and isolated age foxing and light wear. Rare limited issue. Hardbox is dated 1965. Issued as a promotion with the famous TV show "12 O'Clock High," which centered on the exploits of USAAF B-17s flying over Hitler's Germany. Has many working features: detailed engine with removable cowling, full cockpit and retractable landing gear. Molded in gloss olive drab and clear. The kit has no assembly, but NOTE: the interior parts are painted with one thin coat of zinc chromate green. There is no other painting. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Other kits in this rare series include the B-17 Bomber Formation (3 kits with a special stand and battle-damaged decals), P-38 Lighting, ME-109 (Bf-109), P-47, B-25, B-26 and Fw-190.

This model is in an investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition box. The only box flaw is very slight wear. Dated 1956, but this is a 1960s issue with the later John Steel artwork and blue oval 'Aurora' logo with no 'Famous Fighters' in the logo. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business.

1960s issue with Type 3 logo. Features fine surface detail, working ailerons, elevators and rudder, good cockpit detail, gunner's station, crew of three, detailed twin-row engines, torpedo loadout and more. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The SM-79 was considered an excellent aircraft and one of the best land based torpedo bombers of the war. Designed and serving as an airliner from 1934 onward, 100 were supplied to the Nationalist Air Force for the Spanish Civil War where they served as day and night bombers. The aircraft performed well in the Med and against Malta, sinking many allied ships.
