Early to mid 1960s kit which is well molded and features very fine recessed surface detail, pilot & basic cockpit (floor & seat), working split trailing edge wing flaps, rotating wheels & propeller, separately molded rudder, drop tank and more. Includes full color decals, a clear display stand and a very colorful metal tube of 'Super Strong Adhertic PS' model cement. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The left hand short side panel of the box is missing. The other sides are intact but torn near the right upper and lower corners; creases as shown and graded as 'poor.'

This is one of Renewal's famous Aeroskin kits, and a rare large one in 1/48. Features markings for the aircraft of "High Hat Squadron", VF-1B commander Seligman aboard the USS Saratoga in the early 1930s. The model has an injection molded inner structure of ribs and stringers like a real aircraft, then the modeler covers it with provided authentic pre-colored Aeroskin fabric. There is no painting needed as elaborate finishes are printed directly on the Aeroskin covering. This results a very realistic and colorful model. The kit has never been started. Very rare and the only kit of the P.1106 with the 'T' Tail. Molded in high definition cast resin with a clear vacuform canopy (still clear and in fine condition with no yellowing). Features cockpit, full landing gear & detailed painting guide. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions with full size plans. The first P1106 design dated back to December 2, 1944 and was a proposed development of the 1101 design with supersonic capability. The air intake was reduced in length to minimize thrust loss while the cockpit was slid way back to the rear of the fuselage. This lead to good aerodynamic form and increased internal fuel storage. The 'T' shaped tail unit had it's horizontal part placed above the wake zone produced by the separated flow shock of the wing and fuselage. This 'T' Tail was was patented in 1944 and had been tested at the Gotingen Aerodynamic Testing Laboratory on a full scale model of the P1101 and was also set on the DFS 346. This tail design has proven to be very successful and can be found on many aircraft from airliners, sport planes, business jets and even fighters like the F-104.

1960 hardbox first issue of the P-39 in the rare "Whip Fly" series. The artwork for this series was drawings or retouched 'action' photos by Tom Kelly. The box is in exceptional condition with the only real flaw being the very small litho pull from a price tag at the upper right. Whip-Fly kits contain the aircraft model with nose ballast, a metal control ring, 12 feet of control line and a control handle. Never started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The kit and all paperwork and whip-fly accessories are all in the factory sealed bag. Literally the entire contents of the kit are factory sealed.

It is noteworthy for it's excellent fit & finish and the large and beautiful set of decals for the "Gulfhawk" Gulf Oil sponsored air-show aircraft flown by the famous Al Williams. Williams amazing stunt routines amazed millions of spectators over several decades; however (and unfairly), his Gulfhawk aircraft were more famous than he was. There were many Gulfhawks through the years that amazed millions of spectators, but two of the most famous were the F3F Biplane and the F8F Bearcat.
