$899

Very rare and even rarer in complete condition. This is the 1959 first and only issue of this classic Monogram models and certainly one of the 'Holy Grail' for the manufacturer. The model features 18 aircraft (102 parts total), all to a constant 1/240 scale. All aircraft have an in-flight configuration accurate down to the upward-swept wing angle on the B-52. The display is made complete with all aircraft riding on 'Flight Wires' that rise from the special blue stand. The large decal sheet is in amazing 'Near Mint+' condition. It is flat and 100% intact with no visible micro-cracking and no yellowing. The instructions and Air Power book are both in 'Excellent+++' condition with light yellowing as the only significant flaw. The kit has never been started; there is no assembly. The flight wires are still in the factory sealed clear bag. The plastic parts have been inventoried 100% complete. The box is rated 'Good'. It has 'excellent' color and gloss, four solid original corners, no repairs, no price tag or tag marks and no tears. Wear includes many lithograph missing 'chips' as shown; these are due to bug damage. These chips are on the box sides also but there are slightly fewer than on the top. There is one very light crease about 1 inch long at the lower left corner. This kit must be shipped with postal insurance and double-boxed.

O-lin Boeing PT-17 - First O-Lin Release and the 2nd Issue Of The First Plastic Aircraft Model From the USA, 1/46, 508

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Boeing PT-17 - First O-Lin Release and the 2nd Issue Of The First Plastic Aircraft Model From the USA

$285

This is a very rare kit for the advanced collector and is even more desirable in never started and 100% complete condition. This model has a fascinating history. In 1946 Varney cut molds for the PT-17 and injected them in tenite plastic. This was the first all-plastic model kit made in the USA. Gorden Varney sold them to hobby shops through his strong pre-war model train wholesale network. Unlike almost all early plastic kit producers, Varney understood the value and draw of box art and issued the PT-17 with full-size box art in color. However, dealers didn't really know how to market the PT-17 (and it's partner in '46, the US Fleet Sub) so they did not sell well. Mr. Varney kept trying for a few years but eventually became disillusioned with plastic kits. Around 1948 or 49, he sold all his molds to O-Lin so Varney could concentrate on HO scale trains (which He did very successfully). O-Lin was founded by Paul Lindberg and a Mr. Olsen - hence the company name. Although a producer of flying models in the 1930s, O-lin was busy producing some of the earliest American injection molded kits in the late 1940s. The O-Lin PT-17 is numbered kit 508. Since there are earlier kit numbers from O-Lin, one could safely assume that O-Lin had already made a few original models before purchasing the Varney molds. Two issues of the O-lin PT-17 are known so far: the one-piece box release (this kit) and the hardbox issue. Both have the same box artwork. The kit is even rarer as it appears to be the same parts and part count as the original Varney issue (other than the display stand). That is important because Lindberg quickly re-worked the molds, forever altering the pieces. The condition of the model is as follows: the one-piece box has great color, almost as new. There are no repairs and all four box flaps and both ends are still solidly attached. There is a bit of wear as shown but the main flaw is that the left flap is creased & concave; but it's still 100% intact. Inside, the main parts are molded in gloss white plastic with black engine, tires, propeller and tail wheel. All of the small parts are still in the original factory-sealed 'krinkle' bag. The kit has been inventoried with all parts present, 'excellent' condition decals and instructions, which are on the back of the box. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

Very rare and highly desirable model dated 1964. It is based on the proposed atomic bomber that was to be powered by the nuclear engines that were in the prototype stage. Features retractable landing gear, operating wing flaps, movable ailerons and canards, removable nuclear engines, two docking parasite fighters and cool 'jet flame' exhaust in clear red plastic. Molded in silver, clear and red-tinted clear plastic. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The instructions are 'near mint' and the decals are perfectly flat & 100% intact but have limited light brow age foxing on the backing paper only on the right side. Also includes a modern reproduction decal sheet. The box was factory sealed until fairly recently, which is why is has concave sections as shown from being pulled tight by the shrinking seal. That is why it is only graded 'good.' This kit must be shipped insured.

One in the line of Grover Loening's famous 1920's amphibians. In 1928 five OA-1As were chosen for the 'Pan American Cruise' that began in San Antonio Texas, flew to the southern most spot in South America, then returned north to Washington, DC for a total of 22,000 miles. Two aircraft were lost in a tragic mid-air collision but three made it back; one is preserved today in the NASM. This is a very high quality kit with vacuform modlings that rival or surpass injection molded parts in detail. Includes extruded airfoil shaped strut material and very good interior detail. Decals are included to build any one of the five 'Pan Am Cruise' aircraft, and additional parts are included to build a OA-1C. An OA-1B (Army version) could be built with minor scratch modifications. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried and NOTE: missing the small bag of metal details. Otherwise complete with all other parts, decals and instructions.
