Matchbox model kits originated in 1970, produced by the British company Lesney Products. Initially known for their die-cast toy cars, Matchbox expanded into plastic model kits in the 1970s. Their 1/72 scale military aircraft and 1/76 scale military vehicles gained popularity for their distinctive two- or three-color parts. In 1997, Matchbox was acquired by Mattel, further broadening its reach. Revell Germany purchased the Matchbox kit molds in the early 1990s and continues to occasionally reissue old Matchbox kits.

This is the only 1/72 scale model of the popular and successful 600 series HS-125 business jet. Includes decals for first HS Demo Aircraft or RAF No. 32 Squadron. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts present including decals and instructions. The Series 600 of the DH/HS125 line had numerous improvements over the 1A, 1AR, 3A, 3AR and 400 series. First, the 600 had the new Viper 601-22 engines, increased weight, increased cruise and max speeds, stretched fuselage allowing two more passengers, increased range with a new dorsal tank, revised aileron tab arrangements and aileron control gearing and improved aerodynamics and the longer fuselage and sloping windshield allowed the removal of the distinctive top 'hump' of all the previous series. These physical changes gave the aircraft a dramatically new appearance of beauty and a certain aggressiveness on the ground. Inside, the stand-up cabin was retained and the interiors as luxurious as ever. One 600 that was US based was unusually fast - it cruised at a full 30 knots more than the other 600s under the same conditions! Hawker Siddeley sent teams to examine the aircraft and never did determine the reason for such outstanding performance.
