Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+++

Beechcraft Bonanza - Model 35 V Tail

$115

Very rare mid 1950s hardbox first issue with fantastic Ray Gaedke artwork. Even rarer in stunning 'Excellent+++' box condition. This is still the only 1/48 scale plastic model of the earliest 'V' Tail Bonanza. The kit features very fine raised and recessed surface detail, wing tip fuel fuel tanks, full landing gear and more. Includes a display stand, painting guide and decals for the box art aircraft (fuselage stripes are included). Molded in high-gloss silver plastic. Never started. Lindberg F7U-1 Cutlass - (F7U1), 1/48, 510-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

F7U-1 Cutlass - (F7U1)

$74

1956 or '57 Gaedke artwork with three Cutlass and a straight-deck Essex-style aircraft carrier. The model is molded in a stunning, high-gloss dark blue and clear plastic and includes decals for the box art aircraft including red and white checkerboards for the rudders. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions. Dating early Lindberg kits is problematic to a near complete lack of release information; early catalogs normally do not have dates, and there are no dates on early boxes or instructions & decals. However, by records kept when the kits were purchased new, we know this kit was issued either in 1956 or 1957. The early part number of '10' after the 5 would support such an early date, as Lindberg initially used sequential numbers. Please note that the instructions for this kit contain multiple factory mistakes! The pilot has a real seat, not the 'board' shown in the instructions. The pitot tube is not even shown on the assembly page, but is present with the kit. This happened because Lindberg (like Aurora) was famous for never wasting anything. So if the factory still had a supply of earlier instruction sheets, you never threw them out. Instead, they were used before ordering new (revised) ones. That is what happened with this kit and countless others.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Boeing Trainer PT-17 Kaydet - (ex Varney / ex O-Lin)

$89

Rare 1950s hardbox issue with colorful Ray Gaedke boxart. This rare kit has a long and interesting history that goes back to the first plastic model airplane kit ever issued in the USA. These molds were originally created by Varney in the 1940s - please see the article (on this website) about this. The Varney PT-17 was the first (or one of the first) injection molded, scale plastic model aircraft kits produced in the USA. O-Lin, of which Paul Lindberg was one-half of, purchased the Varney molds and released the kit after slight mold modifications. When O-Lin became Lindberg, this exact model was released once - which is this kit - with the minimally modified molds. After this release, the molds were modified more significantly. The parts match the O-Lin parts perfectly, one-for-one. They are molded in very bright glossy yellow, black and clear plastic (the O-Lin parts were white, black and clear). Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Both the decals and instructions are in remarkable 'near mint' condition.

Molded in white/ivory plastic. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The scale given is my estimate based on measuring the fuselage of the aircraft; it is not prefectly accurate.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG+

Russian Jet Fighter Mig-19 With Tow Tractor - Cellovision Issue

$79

Very rare. This is a factory sealed 1950s Cellovision issue. The clear window on the back is intact and the trading card is in 'Near Mint+' condition. Amazingly, the box is in 'very good+' condition, which is rare because these Cellovision boxes were very thin and prone to damage; this one lived a charmed life. Inside, the model is a large 1/48 scale theoretical Mig-19 based on an illustration in a reputable aviation magazine. Lindberg removed this kit from from production well before it's time because it quickly became obvious that this aircraft never existed in this configuration. However, Aurora made one almost just like it; so it is believed that they both based the kits on the same faulty magazine drawing. Includes a very well detailed tow tractor with driver. The aircraft is molded in silver & clear and the tractor in yellow plastic.

There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862.
