Lindberg Model Kits, established in 1944 in the United States, has a rich history in the world of plastic modeling. Originally known for producing high-quality wooden toys, Lindberg transitioned to plastic model kits in the 1950s, quickly becoming a favorite among hobbyists. The company is celebrated for its diverse range of subjects, including aircraft, automobiles, and ships.
Some of Lindberg's most notable kits include the 1/48 Scale F-104 Starfighter, a classic jet fighter known for its sleek design, and the 1/72 Scale USS Arizona, a detailed representation of the iconic battleship. The 1/25 Scale 1957 Chevy Bel Air and the 1/48 Scale B-17 Flying Fortress are also popular among collectors, showcasing Lindberg's commitment to quality and historical accuracy.

Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Sealed NM++
$75
Still factory sealed. The box is in stunning, investment-grade 'Near Mint+' condition but the seal has many splits; part of the seal at the left is missing as shown. Late 1950s hardbox issue with stunning Ray Gaedke box artwork. This is an excellent kit for that time and was the only 1/48 scale Stuka until Monogram's 1968 issue. Features fine panel and rivet detail, crew of two with seats, rear machine gun, separately molded rudder and 'flap/ailerons', four small wing load bombs, large centerline bomb with 'swing arm' so that it would clear the propeller in a dive, dive brakes, crew boarding step, rotating propeller and more. Usually molded in gloss medium green and clear, with the futuristic Lindberg 'V' shaped clear stand and Ju-87 name plate. Thanks to Dusty Rhodes for this information: The markings with this model, A5+HL, are from a -B2 (Trop.) captured intact in North Africa, 1941 and shipped to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. It is still there today (2026). The reason that this was such a good kit is because the Lindberg Skokie-based designers used it as a basis for this model, right down to retaining the A5+HL markings.

Late 1950s issue with great Ray Gaedke artwork. The box is in 'Very Good++' condition which is rare for this fragile Cellovision Box. On the back of the box, the clear oval window is 100% intact, the He-111 Trading Card is in 'excellent' condition and on the sides, all of the end flaps are still present and intact. This was a lot of kit for the money back then and it features movable ailerons, elevators & rudder, retractable landing gear, removable cowling, scale engines, engine ground stand, crew figures, basic cockpit, defensive armament, rotating wheels & propellers and more. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc
$65
Late 1950s hardbox issue with stunning Ray Gaedke box artwork. This is an excellent kit for that time and was the only 1/48 scale Stuka until Monogram's was issued in 1968. Molded in the correct gloss medium green and clear, with the futuristic Lindberg 'V' shaped clear stand and Ju-87 name plate. This kit has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc+
$58
1950s first issue in exceptional condition. This was a fine kit for that time which features very fine raised panel lines, recessed NACA inlets, vents and control surface outlines, retractable landing gear, opening canopy and missiles that actually launch from the central pod. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts/decals and instructions present. Please NOTE that the box displays 'mint' condition but is only rated 'excellent+' because there is residue from old tape (that has long since fallen off) at the center of both long side panels.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Sealed Exc
$48
1982 issue and the only motorized version of this large-scale model. Features electric motor, special stand that holds the batteries and all motorizing hardware. Never started. Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Good-
$65
1970s release of the dard-to-find motorized issue with John Steel artwork. This large 25.5 inch long classic kit features motorized propeller drive, automatically rotating main turrets with elevating main guns and the ship can be programmed for straight, figure eight or circle sailing patterns. One of the nice things about this model is that it all works well! I had endless fun with mine in a local lake. Never started. All of the plastic parts (except the hull) are still in the factory sealed bags. Includes the motor, wiring, decal sheet, flag sheet and instructions. NOTE: the flag sheet and decals have been ruined by water damage. NOTE: missing the small clear bag which contained (5) small deck screws, drive shaft coupling (a rubber tube) and the tiny spring that centers the rudder.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc+++
$115
Very rare mid 1950s hardbox first issue with fantastic Ray Gaedke artwork. Even rarer in stunning 'Excellent+++' box condition. Includes a display stand, painting guide and decals for the box art aircraft (fuselage stripes are included). Molded in high-gloss silver plastic. Never started. Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG+++
$74
1956 or '57 Gaedke artwork with three Cutlass and a straight-deck Essex-style aircraft carrier. The model is molded in a stunning, high-gloss dark blue and clear plastic and includes decals for the box art aircraft including red and white checkerboards for the rudders. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions. Dating early Lindberg kits is problematic to a near complete lack of release information; early catalogs normally do not have dates, and there are no dates on early boxes or instructions & decals. However, by records kept when the kits were purchased new, we know this kit was issued either in 1956 or 1957. The early part number of '10' after the 5 would support such an early date, as Lindberg initially used sequential numbers. Please note that the instructions for this kit contain multiple factory mistakes! The pilot has a real seat, not the 'board' shown in the instructions. The pitot tube is not even shown on the assembly page, but is present with the kit. This happened because Lindberg (like Aurora) was famous for never wasting anything. So if the factory still had a supply of earlier instruction sheets, you never threw them out. Instead, they were used before ordering new (revised) ones. That is what happened with this kit and countless others.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Good-
$34
1989 issue that is a perfect size for a desk top model of this fascinating Mach 3 bomber that rode it's own supersonic shock wave. Features very fine raised surface detail, retractable landing gear with working gear doors, optional 'straight' or 'drooped' outer wing panels, working rudder, clear canopy and more. Includes decals for the aircraft on the box top and the clear the early 1960s futuristic clear Lindberg stand that allows you to display the aircraft in any flight attitude you desire. Molded in white and clear plastic. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc
$36
Late 1950s issue hardbox issue with fantastic Ray Gaedke artwork. This is a very well molded and detailed kit for that time and far superior to Aurora's version. Features fine raised rib and panel lines, recessed control surfaces outlines, detailed engine with removable cowling, good cockpit, pilot figure, wheel chocks, one ground crew member and a two-wheeled tail skid dolly for ground maneuvering. Molded in a bright yellow and clear plastic and includes the early Lindberg clear 'teardrop' shaped display stand. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG+
$89
Rare 1950s hardbox issue with colorful Ray Gaedke boxart. This rare kit has a long and interesting history that goes back to the first plastic model airplane kit ever issued in the USA. These molds were originally created by Varney in the 1940s - please see the article (on this website) about this. The Varney PT-17 was the first (or one of the first) injection molded, scale plastic model aircraft kits produced in the USA. O-Lin, of which Paul Lindberg was one-half of, purchased the Varney molds and released the kit after slight mold modifications. When O-Lin became Lindberg, this exact model was released once - which is this kit - with the minimally modified molds. After this release, the molds were modified more significantly. The parts match the O-Lin parts perfectly, one-for-one. They are molded in very bright glossy yellow, black and clear plastic (the O-Lin parts were white, black and clear). Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Both the decals and instructions are in remarkable 'near mint' condition.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG
$38
Early 1960s reissue from the original 1950s molds; Tom Morgan's work replaced the original Ray Gaedke box art. The Comet was the world's first operational airliner. The small scale model measures 7.5 inches long and features complete landing gear (which can be left off for an 'in flight' build), display stand and a long and complete decal sheet which includes fuselage side stripes w/windows, tail registration & 'Speedbird', BOAC text for the fuselage and wing fuel pods and upper/lower wing registration. Molded in white/ivory plastic. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The scale given is my estimate based on measuring the fuselage of the aircraft; it is not prefectly accurate.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Good++
$32
1950s issue with fantastic Ray Gaedke artwork. This is a very well molded kit and features fine & realistic surface detail, pilot and seat, clear windscreen, centerline drop tank, two optional wing-mounted small bombs, rotating propeller & wheels, ailerons push rods and more. Includes completed kit photos that also serve as a rigging diagram. Molded in white and clear plastic. The decals are for the colorful box top aircraft. Never started and inventoried with all aircraft parts complete and with decals and instructions. NOTE: missing the display stand. The decals are flat and 100% complete, but one insignia has been cut out (and it is present). The instructions have the 'missing part' coupon cut out; but the aircraft is complete with all parts. Please note that the box displays much better than the 'good++' grade but is rated as such because there is light rubber band residue & damage going from the top of the box to the bottom, just left of center, as shown in the photo.
