Very rare, out of production kit. The model is from the legendary Yankee Modelworks and is true museum quality. Features high-definition resin pressure-cast full-hull, numerous & beautiful cast metal details, 2 frets of brass PE parts and extensive decals. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. USS Shea was laid down on 23 December 1943 by Bethlehem Steel Company yard at Staten Island, New York. The ship was originally going to be DD-750, an Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer. She was launched on May 20, 1944 and was sponsored by Mrs. John J. Shea. The ship was modified to be a destroyer minelayer, re-designated DM-30 in late 1944 and commissioned at the New York Navy Yard on September 30, 1944. The ship had a very active career in World War 2.
