C8 Sterling Fokker D-7 - 34 Inch Wingspan R/C Flying Aircraft - (D-VIII)
Wood Model Kit, Box Condition: Good
Hard-to-find and purchased new at Russ' Hobby Shop, 5108 W. Center Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 30, 1967 (the original hand-written receipt is still in the box). This is the 34 inch wingspan issue of Sterling's line of Fokker D-7s. This model features select precision-cut balsa wood parts that are inter-notched for fast and easy assembly, shaped and notched leading and trailing edges, die-cut wing ribs and tail surfaces, die-cut plywood parts, rock maple motor mounts, gas model silkspan, formed wire landing gear, hardware packet and much more. Includes decals, full size plans with step-by-step building instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe models due to their many additional features.
