Rare; still the only kit ever made of this subject. Loening amphibians were the first in the world with tractor engines. The US Navy knew a good thing and bough several with Packard and Liberty engines. With the Pratt and Whitney radial, this was the ultimate development of the 1920s amphibs. 46 OL-8 and OL-9s saw successful service with the US Navy. The actual kit is by Esoteric, who is responsible for perhaps making the finest 1/72 vacuform models ever produced. This is a very highly detailed kit which features optional parts to build the OL-8 or OL-9, very good cockpit, many metal parts, extruded plastic strut stock and extensive, full color decals. Never started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag; the white vac parts are uncut, untouched and 100% complete. Includes all decals and excellent instructions. Please NOTE that you may find very neat, adult, professional quality research notes written on the instructions. If you like having an accurate model, these are very helpful.
