Very rare and still the only model kit ever of this subject, in any scale. The Dolphin was the development of the Sinbad flying boat of the 1930s. Initially designed as a civil transport, the US Coast Guard quickly saw the potential and used it as a flying lifeboat. The Army used Dolphins under the designations OA-3, OA-4, C-26 and C-29. The Navy and Marines designated them RD-1 through RD-4 and used them as VIP transports. The very first presidential carrier was a Dolphin for Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the Dolphin was the very first Douglas commercial transport as well. This is a very high quality vac kit with white vacuform main parts, full interior and fine cast metal details. The vac part quality is as good or better than many injection molded kits. Includes decals for three aircraft including FDR's transport. Never started. All are still in the factory sealed bags. Includes decals and instructions.
