He flew 120 combat missions and on his last mission, he collided with a Russian Yak-9 over Berlin in the very last days of the war. He had 18 victories but not just over Russia; there were 6 B-17s, two B-24s, a Spitfire, Mustang and even four of the difficult-to-kill Il-2s to his credit. After the war he was captured by the Russians but managed to escape after only a few days. During the escape, he walked over 1,000 km in the span of just several days to his native Austria. Oscar lived in Canada with his wife Editha and had three children. As late as 2006 he was still performing at air shows in Canada & the USA and appeared in the IMAX movie 'Silent Sky.' He passed away in 2012.
