Dusty Rhodes provided more information on the box art aircraft - Hampden AE240 took off from RAF Scampton at 1443 hours on the 12th February 1942, detailed to attack the German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau in the English Channel. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and the aircraft and crew disappeared without trace. The Squadron lost 4 aircraft on this mission.
