This high performance follow-up to the F-102 enjoyed a successful and long service life; I can remember seeing them in 'Alert 5' shelters at the Florida Air National Guard base at Jacksonville International in the 1980s. Kit is well detailed and features external tanks, optional position missile bay doors and a full load of Falcon Aim-4 E/F Air-to-Air Missiles. Never started. William Barker's final combat mission was when he pitted his aircraft alone against 60 German aircraft. Barker was seriously injured, but destroyed 4 aircraft and damaged two others. Late 1930s or early 1945 issue. Almost everyone has heard of the Comet flying aircraft kits that boys and men built from stick and tissue, but few know that Comet had a line of ships also. Very nicely done wooden kit that measures 12 inches long when assembled. The hull had been very neatly factory machine cut to the overhead (beam) dimensions only. Also includes two sheets of printwood, solid, long balsa blocks for the superstructure, mast and gun barrel material, rigging material, decals and full size plans. The plans are superior to most ship plans of the day with 3 hull sections, full size top and side drawings, illustrated instructions and a very large number of detail drawings. The decals are in amazing 'excellent++' condition and were not issued with the wartime kits. The large sheet includes the correctly-shaded hull numbers, hull portholes, superstructure square windows and even doors. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts.

Early 1960s John Steel box art issue exceptional in 'near mint+' condition. This is only the second box artwork used for this kit, as Steel replaced Cox for the Aurora's 'new look'. NOTE: this kit has minor and 'professional' quality assembly to two parts: engine to cowl. There is no other assembly. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business.

This is is in investment-grade 'Near Mint-' condition. Very light wear is the only flaw. First issue from 1956 with Northern Lights logo, 69 cent price extension and great Jim Cox art. This 'NL' Rectangular logo was used for this one year only - in 1957 the oval 'Famous Fighters' Sunburst logo was launched. This kit is one of a very successful line of 1/48 WWI aircraft that Aurora launched in 1956. The line sold so well that new kits were added into the 1960s. Molded in the correct gloss olive drab green and black. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Thanks to Eugene DuBey, we know some history on the aircraft that Aurora modeled. The tail # on the kit rudder is 1354, the number of a Nie 16 that served with CAM de Dunquerke / St Pol sur Mer", 1916-17.
