There are no decals for the box art aircraft, only the UPC RAF version. NOTE: this kit has very minor and neat subassembly: four parts of the jet engine are built. The work is done to 'excellent++' quality. There is no other assembly and zero painting. The small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the large parts are not sealed and have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s. Interestingly enough, this kit says 'Molded in Japan' so these any many other Lindberg molds made their way to Japan at this time.

Aircraft Douglas SBD Dauntless, 1/48, H-8

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Solid wooden model from the 1930s. Features hardwood 3D machine carved fuselage, profile cut wings, horizontal and vertical stabilizers, excellent turned hardwood cowl, printwood prop, a sealed envelope of small parts and excellent plans that include 3 elevation drawings and many cross sections for templates. Jack Mair, a former Comet Model Airplane & Supply Co. salesman bought the company in the early 1940s and renamed it Maircraft. Mair continued with the same logo and 1/48 scale and went on to make one of the rarest and valuable 1/48 scale wooden kits ever - the Maircraft DC-3. The company went out of business just as production began on the DC-3, which was in 1947.

Revell Pontiac Club de Mer Show Car - From 1956 GM Motorama, 1/25, 1223

Aurora North American B-70 Valkyrie Bomber (XB-70A), 1/105, 370-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM+

Sold

Still factory sealed and in amazing investment-grade 'Near Mint+' condition. The seal is intact. The only flaw is a very hard to see 1.3" crease at the upper left corner. You must look hard to find it. First issue hardbox from 1962. This box has, in my opinion, some of the best Jack Leynnwood box art. Jack primarily did Revell artwork, but since he was freelance, he did others as well. At this point, the XB-70 was planned for production, so the kit is called the B-70 and the artwork shows a winter night-time quick turn around of a SAC B-70 while another Valkyrie roars overhead after takeoff. The box is in excellent condition with very little wear, four solid corners, no repairs, stains, price tag or tape/tape marks. Very large kit with 6 detailed General Electric J93-3 engines, landing gear and clear canopy.

Contrail Vickers Armstrong Warwick, 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Rare. Designed for Air Ministry specification B.1/35 for a two-engined heavy bomber, the Warwick was to replace the Wellington and used the same sturdy geodetic 'basket weave' construction. However, the prototype orders were canceled in 1936 to concentrate on four-engine bombers. Vickers completed two of the prototypes anyway. RAF Coastal Command liked what it saw and eventually 712 Warwicks were produced and used for transports, air-sea rescue, meteorological recon and anti-submarine work. One saw use as a BOAC Transport and the aircraft was used by the Air Forces of Poland and South Africa. The model kit features well molded vac parts with numerous injection molded parts. Alternate parts included to build prototype CIII, BI., ASR I, ASR (B Mod), GR V and GR II. With full decals for many aircraft including the BOAC version and large painting/markings guide sheet with many photos of actual aircraft. Never started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bags; the other parts have been inventoried complete and includes decals and instructions.

Comet Boeing 707 Stratotanker (367-80 - Dash 80), 1/125, PL800-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Comet originally began model production in 1929 with a line of balsa flying models. In the mid-1950s Comet made a beautiful line of small and medium scale aircraft and missile models with colorful boxes. The early issues were in one-piece 'flip-top' boxes, and the later issues and releases were in standard two-piece 'hardboxes' with a lithograph slick glued to the top box. In 1963 Comet sold the plastic kit molds to Aurora, who reissued some but not all of the kits. There were two Boeing 707 models made. This is the two-piece box larger scale (1/125) 'Stratotanker' - not really a tanker model at all, but a nice kit of the famous Dash-80 Prototype Tanker/707, which lead to the world's first commercially-successful airliner. Well molded with fine recessed panel lines, landing gear and prototype decals. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions in 'as new' condition.
