Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: NM-
Very rare. 1950s two piece hardbox issue. Very close to 1/100 scale and still the largest injection molded DC-7 kit. Nicely molded with very fine raised panel line detail and recessed control surfaces and doors. The box has great color, four solid corners, no rips or tears and very minor wear only - it is the best that I have seen. Inside, the special cardboard side housing is still held in place with the original staples and contains an unopened green capsule of cement and a glass vial of white paint with the factory cork. The paint is still a liquid - it has not turned solid. The very long decal sheet is intact and near mint. The decals have not rolled and are in excellent condition - they have very, very little of the typical yellowing. The instructions are excellent with light yellowing and have no tears or writing. The kit is molded in the correct gloss silver and clear plastic with a large dark blue stand. The kit has never been started and has been inventoried complete with all parts, decals, instructions, glue and paint. The propellers are on the original cardboard holder and the blades are not broken. Shipping insurance is required on this model.

Wood Model Kit, Box Condition: Fair
Highly prefabricated kit made from Solid Western Pine - not balsa wood. Makes a very impressive display model when built. Includes precut and shaped fuselage, wings, elevators, rudder and nacelles, a bag of sealed detail parts including propellers, wheels, etc, envelopes of wood filler and glue, sandpaper, detailed instructions and drawings with aircraft history and a large, colorful American Airlines decal sheet. Never started. 100% complete with all parts and plans. NOTE: the box is only fair. The ends are heavily taped and the tape extends onto the box top and bottom. It is graded 'fair', not collectible but an ideal builder as the parts and paperwork are all in very good condition. Before plastic kits were introduced, Strombecker was famous as the premier hardwood preshaped model manufacture. In the 1940s and 1950s, Strombecker kits were flawlessly engineered but not inexpensive. All wooden parts are hardwood and are precarved to shape - usually only a quick sanding would finish them.

Hard-to-find kit from the mid 1950s. The 'Picture Galley' issues had a colorful but short life. When Hawk moved from wooden kits to injection molded kits, they utilized the one piece 'flip top' boxes with one or two color printing. Sales were initially poor. Realizing that more color was needed, they went to the 'hardbox' design, which was medium weight cardboard with a colorful litho 'slick' glued to it. The litho slick allowed more colors to be used, so Hawk sought out an artist who began painting Hawk's first hardbox artwork - the Picture Gallery. After a short period of time, however, the artist became ill- hence the short production run. Artist Bill Campbell was contracted to fill his shoes. Hawk was so happy that Bill was used from that point on with other artists as well. Molded in gloss dark green. Includes early correct decals and instructions showing slightly different part design that was utilized at this stage. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions.

1970s Life-Like issue from the original 1965 Pyro molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. Features detailed chassis with suspension, gas tank and steering linkage, complete motor and interior, spoked wheels, optional convertible top and removable hood. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions.

Very rare. This is a special issue by Marusan commemorating their very first kit - the Revell Nautilus. The contents are worthy of some detail. First, there is a 'Commemorative Booklet' which tells a fairly long story across many pages, but I do not know Japanese. The final page shows illustrations of the first Marusan adds to promote the Nautilus, as well as a Marusan catalog page and a Revell/Marusan catalog page. The actual kit contains a copy of the origina instruction sheet with "Marusan Plastic Model Kit" inside the Revell logo design, the older "SAN" logo and the special stand. The model parts are beautifully presented against white cardboard and factory sealed in clear bags. The special stand is included as well as the gold and black stand sticker. Complete and never started, with all paperwork and parts bags in mint condition.
