Very rare kit dated 1958. The superb box art was painted by Monaghan, who did all of the Aurora Indy 500 winners. This kit is from Best molds. Aurora purchased these molds just for the Indianapolis 500 Winners and made only one issue. Molded in gloss white plastic with real rubber tires, spoked wheels and includes a crew of two and some interior detail. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions as well as the original factory tissue packing paper. The box is only graded 'good+' because of the light stain at the left and general wear as shown. The 'Murphy Special', winner of the Indy 500 in 1922, was a Duesenburg chassis and a Harry Miller engine of 183 CID. It was driven by the great racer Jimmy Murphy.

Aurora 1920 Monroe Special Indianapolis 500 Winner - (ex Best), 1/30, 521-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$129

Very rare kit dated 1958. The superb box art was painted by Monaghan, who did all of the Aurora Indy 500 winners. This kit is from Best molds. Aurora purchased these molds just for the Indianapolis 500 Winners and made only one issue. Molded in a beautiful gloss blue with real rubber tires, spoke wheels and includes a crew of two and some interior detail. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Even the original factory tissue packing paper is present. Please note that the box displays better than the 'good' grade but is rated as such because the upper long side has numerous small, dark spots. These spots are on the outside of the tray (lower box) also. Decals and instructions are only 'good' quality. This famous car is directly tied to one of racings greatest names, Louis Chevrolet. Louis and his brother He and his brother Arthur came to American in about 1905 and immediately began racing; Louis alone won 10 National Championship races between 1909 and 1919. Louis and Arthur joined forces with William Crapo 'Billy' Durant to form the Chevrolet Car Company in 1911. However, few people got along with Durant and the Chevrolet brothers were no exception. By 1915 they had sold their stock and moved on to Indianapolis. They immediately went back into racing and built their own cars. However, they were not allowed to use the Chevrolet name. The unofficial Chevrolet team was the first to achieve consecutive Indianapolis 500 wins. The first is this kit, the 1920 Monroe Special driven by younger brother Gaston Chevrolet and in 1921 in a Frontenac Special driven by Tommy Milton.

Revell US Army Hawk Surface-to-Air Guided Missile, 1/40, H548-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$185

Very rare 1963 kit which is the second and last issue. The artwork is the same as the 'S' kit but the box artwork on the sides is different. Features 3 removable Hawk missiles, 4 man crew, elevating and swiveling launcher, rotating rubber tires, control panel with opening hatches, separate radar scope equipment and more. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The box has excellent color and gloss but has the price tag pull shown at the upper right. The pull extends down a very small amount (1/2" x 1/4") on the right short side as well.

Revell Douglas AD-6 Skyraider - AH-1 Navy Attack Aircraft - 'S' Issue, 1/40, H269-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$179

Very rare original "S" kit from 1959. The box states "So Realistic It Does Everything But Fly!" and that is no idle boast. It is full of action features; the wings fold, dive brakes operate, arresting hook moves, canopy slides to show full cockpit, landing gear retracts and cowling comes off to show fully detailed engine. The most interesting thing is that the landing gear retracts and extends with a very complicated gear system that is operated from a central point. Molded in the correct gloss medium gray and clear plastic. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals are in amazing 'near mint' condition with slight yellowing as the only flaw and the instructions are in the same condition also. Please note that the box is solid with 'very good' color and gloss, four perfect corners, no repairs, no price tags or tape (other than the factory sealing tape of course) but it is rated only 'good++' because it has age spotting; a series of small light brown spots on the box top and also on the left short box end.

Revell M-35 Military Truck, 1/40, H537-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$95

Rare original issue dated 1958 with superb hardbox artwork. This is a very well detailed kit for that time and features good underside molded-in detail, rotating wheels, guard rails that convert into seats, opening tailgate, opening cab doors, detailed interior, driver figure and 6 soldiers, cable reels, duffle bags, radio, rifles, generator, mortar, machine gun and tripod. Molded in olive drab, clear and with flexible rubber tires. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note that the box displays 'excellent' in the photo but is graded 'very good' because there is some bubbling in the litho, moderate scuffing on the short right side panel and one close split corner at the lower left.

Jo-Han Olds 442 Super Funny Car - 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 / Stock / Custom / Funny Car, 1/25, C2368-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$850

Incredibly rare one-and-only original issue and ever rarer in never started and complete condition. Features a huge number of optional parts for stock, custom or funny car versions. Funny car version builds up a full tube frame just like the real thing; all versions have detailed engines, full drivelines and complete interiors. Molded in white, clear, red-tinted clear, chrome and with rubber tires. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals are flat, intact and in amazing 'near mint' condition and the instructions are also 'near mint'. The chrome plating is in exceptional 'near mint' condition. Clear parts are like new. I did not see any tire burns; so if there are any, they were so small that I missed them. The box is graded as 'good'. It is 100% intact and has four solid corners and no repairs. There is no fading, no rips, tears or missing litho. There are no price tags or tape and no marks from either. Imperfections include edge and corner wear as shown, a slightly concave vertical section on the far left side, scuffs near the middle top, light scuffs on the right short side and lighter general wear as shown. NOTE: this kit will only be shipped double-boxed and insured.

Monogram Curtiss P-36A Test Shot - Bagged, 1/72, PA145

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$36

This kit came from the collection of one of Monogram's finest and talented Chief Designers, the man who created the original B-52 kit, B-17, B-24J, P-36A, P-39 Airacobra, P-61 Black Widow, DH Mosquito, at least one if not all of the 1/8 scale Ford cars, A-1E Skyraider and numerous other famous kits. In his collection were boxes (usually Four-Star armor that had been damaged on the box-assembly machine) labeled 'TEST SHOTS' and some with his name on it. After designing the model, he was still responsible for the entire program, at least up to the point of mass production. Test Shots were made near the end of the design process for the Chief Designer of that kit to inspect; if something was wrong, he ordered changed. If not, he would clear the kit for production. This is one of those kits. Ever notice that all Monogram P-36A are always molded in silver? Well, not this time! This test shot is molded in brown and clear plastic and is a pre-first issue, probably 1966. It has never been started. The model is inventoried with all parts, decals and instruction present. The instructions and decal may have come with the test shot for his approval or they may have been added later. I have included them because they were in the same 'TEST SHOT' box as the kit.

Rare and very early 1950s issue and likely the first Lindberg release. Features the first Lindberg round logo with the correct very small and narrow hardbox. It is amazing that a 1/48 Starfire even fits in the box, but it does if you pack it very carefully. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear and with the early Lindberg 'triangle' based two-piece display stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals are in remarkable 'near mint' condition and the instructions are 'very good.' The box is only 'good-' because of scuff and wear shown and also masking tape placed neatly on all four corners and an additional piece at the center of each long side.
