William H Low Co Combination Chemical Wagon - Wilo Line Fire Truck, 1/24, FC180

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$89

Very rare. Likely from the 1940s. William H Low Co., of Braintree Mass., issued the 'Wilo Line' which included a superb series of antique commercial firefighting equipment. The box top photo shows the actual model as assembled by Bill Low. The scale is given as 1/2" and the finished wagon is a large 8" long (13.5" with the front carriage bar). The kits were very advanced for the time and shared many of the pre-fabrication methods of Hudson Miniatures. Features plastic injection molded spoke wheels, precut large wooden parts, fully finished chemical tanks, completely cut and drilled ladder frames and pre-cut rungs, smaller parts including a great many fully carved of wood & others of metal and brass (chain), with a variety of metal stock as needed, sandpaper, complete instructions with detailed plans, additional drawings, complete text instructions and a big photo of the actual built model. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bag and the parts that were never factory have sealed have been inventoried 100% complete including instructions/plans. The kits in this line include Amoskeag Steamer, Hose Reel, Hose Wagon, Chemical Engine and many others. In most cases they are the only kits in existence of these historic vehicles. Bill Low did design at least one 'non-fire truck' kit in his Will-O-Line - a Conestoga Wagon, advertised as being 1/24 scale, kit #B14 for $2.85 listed as "This is another Museum Piece by Bill Low." After seeing these fire truck kits, I do not doubt that.

Megow Piper Cub Class B 52.75 Inch Wingspan Gas Flying Aircraft, E15

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$189

Rare kit from the late 1930s. This is the finest example I have ever seen with a 'very good++' condition box and the contents just as it left the factory - never started and complete. One of the few Megow 'Deluxe Big Wingspan' scale kits that were the flagships of the line. They were expensive and few of them sold, hence the rarity today. The Piper Cub has many great features including two sheets with several large die-cut aluminum parts, hollow & completely formed and finished wing leading edges with a perfect airfoil (carved from a single balsa block), many sheets of high quality printwood, printed plywood sheet, precut stripwood and spars, fully formed wheels, balsa blocks as required, clear windshield material factory sealed paper envelope hardware packet, covering tissue and excellent, full-size plans with extensive construction notes. Berkeley is a very famous manufacturer of flying model kits from the Golden Age of flying aviation, about 1932-1954. Founded in 1933 by William Effinger, the company was quite progressive in producing quality kits - it was likely the Berkeley 'Buccaneer' was the first gas powered model in kit form. In the later 1930s, Effinger acquired the services of a very talented Henry Struck. Struck went on to design numerous award-winning kits under the Berkeley name. Berkeley weathered the post WWII recession and emerged as a major kit producer in the late 1940 and 1950s. These were great years for Berkeley and they produced some incredible and large kits. The company went bankrupt in about 1960 however. Fox engines (Duke Fox) bought the company and released the kits alongside his own FOX models and engines. This arrangement did not last, and in the early 1960s the Berkeley name disappeared from hobby shop shelves.

Pyro 1931 Alfa Romeo Gran Turismo 6C-1750cc, 1/32, C320-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Poor

$32

1966 Pyro issue from original molds. Ideal builder- the box is rough but the kit and instructions inside are mint. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many kit subjects based on historical significance instead of popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to, such as this Alfa, which was in the collection of John C. Silva Jr of the Silva Auto Engineering Shop in Massachusetts. Features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior and a removable hood. Molded in red and clear. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions.

Revell Air Power CBS Gift Set F-100C F-101A F-102 F-89D B-57B 'S' Issue, G240-495

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$749

1956 first and only issue. This rare kit contains all five aircraft models. The box is in 'good' condition with very nice color and gloss, three solid corners (one a closed split) and significant litho damage to the right lower section as shown. The four box sides grade better at 'very good.' The tray (lower box) is 'good++' and all internal packing material is present as shown. It is very interesting that there is no damage from the ribbon that Revell wrapped these kits in. Almost all issues have that, but this one does not. Inside, the kit has the two factory dividers. All kits contain the famous Revell clear 'Globe' stand. The kits have never been started. Three of them are still factory sealed in the factory bags with the decals and instructions. The B-57 and F-102 bags was opened, but they have not been started and are inventoried 100% complete and correct with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: there is a molding flaw on the rudder of the B-57. The rudder is complete, but it looks like a rough ring in the plastic. Shipping insurance is required on this kit.

Monogram B-24 Liberator Speedee-Bilt - Five Star Super Deluxe Kit, 1/60, H4-495

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$625

Dated 1954. Rare, desirable and very collectible. Classic early multi-media kit with a fantastic internal box presentation. The box top has excellent color and gloss but general wear as shown, two properly repaired (from the inside) split corners and a closed tear (also repaired) on the lower side. Inside, the kit is factory new. All of the factory cardboard presentation material is present and grades from 'mint' to 'excellent++.' Includes numerous plastic parts in red, gray, clear and black, four unopened glass bottle of Mono*Dope that are still good, an unopened tube of MonoGlue still in the original mint box, all prefabricated wooden parts including the amazing Monofoil wing, three sheets of die-cut and factory painted wood (unpunched), colored die-cut cardstock sheet, sandpaper, gun barrel plastic material, decals in amazing 'near mint' condition, 'near mint' instruction book and full size plans and even a miniature Monogram Catalog showing this kit and the entire Speedee-Bilt line for '54. The kit has never been started. It has been carefully inventoried 100% complete with all parts, paperwork, instructions, plans and decals. Amazingly, the celluloid plastic parts range from no warping to very slight warping (on two of the nacelles). This is very rare, as that type of plastic was unstable and warp easily over time. Before injection molded plastic kits were common, Monogram issued the famous 'Speedee-Bilt' and 'Super Kits' which featured injection molded details and precarved wooden parts. Of these, the Speede-Bilt B-24 and B-17 were the finest. These kits are very rare today due to their relatively high original price of $4.95. This kit must be shipped insured.
